CELTIC IN £4.3m BAUR HITCH

CELTIC’S bid for SC Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur has stalled – over the Bundesliga outfit’s asking fee.

The two clubs have been in negotiations for the last few days with the champions hopeful of getting the deal over the line before tomorrow’s friendly against AC Milan at Parkhead.

However, the chances of the 22-year-old star signing in time to play a role against the Serie A cracks are now highly unlikely.

Baur has one year left on his contract at the newly-promoted team and his club are said to be willing to allow their middle-of-the-park performer to move for nothing in the summer rather sell him below their valuation of €5million which equates to just under £4.3million.

The Hoops have offered £4million for the player, but the SC Paderborn powerbrokers are willing to wait it out for the Parkhead club to up the ante, according to Sky Sports in Germany.

It has already been reported in local media that Baur has agreed personal terms and is keen to move to Scotland’s title kings.

The eye-catching operator contributed four goals and seven assists during his club’s surprise promotion to the German top flight.
