CELTIC have been linked with RB Leipzig centre-back Marvin Compper – with the German international on Brendan Rodgers’ January wish-list.
The Hoops boss has admitted he needs to strengthen his back four and the experienced defender is on his radar.
The 32-year-old no-nonsense central defender, who still has 18 months to run on his contract, is no longer guaranteed a first team place at the Bundesliga outfit under big-spending coach Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Celtic would require to pay a fee for the player, but he will NOT be eligible to face Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League last-32 clashes in February.
Compper first emerged at Borussia Monchengladbach, moving to Hoffenheim for five years before an 18-month spell with Fiorentina.
He returned to Germany to help Leipzig win promotion to the Bundesliga, but is now seeking a move in the hope of more regular first team football at another club.
