CELTIC are poised to sign Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi from J-League side Vissel Kobe.

The Far East club announced: “We are pleased to announce that we have reached a basic agreement between the clubs regarding the complete transfer of forward Kyogo Furuhashi (26) to Celtic FC, from the Scottish Premiership.

“In the future, a formal contract will be signed after undergoing local medical checks.”

The move got the green light in the early hours of the morning and it appears Ange Postecoglou has landed his second player in 48 hours following the £3.5million arrival of Israeli winger Liel Abada from Maccabi Petah Tikva on a five-year deal.

After his time at Yokahama F Marinos, the new Hoops boss will be aware of the qualities of the hitman who has claimed 14 goals in just 20 league games this season.

Furuhashi has made six appearances for his national team and netted three strikes. He has been a regular for his club side since making the breakthrough three years ago.

The Parkhead also landed Sheffield Wednesday prospect Osaze Urhoghide last week and the defender joined his former Hillsborough team-mate, midfielder Liam Shaw, as part of the squad’s summer revamp.
