CELTIC IN SUNDAY CUP DRAW

CELTIC will discover their Premier League Cup opponents when the draw is made on Sunday around 5pm.

Brendan Rodgers has won the trophy three times in his four attempts over his two stints as Hoops boss.

After three successive triumphs – Aberdeen (3-0, 2016), Motherwell (2-0, 2017) and the Dons again (1-0, 2018), the Parkhead gaffer suffered defeat last season in the third game of his comeback campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s successor.

The Hoops, who had clinched the silverware in the previous two years under the Greek-Australian, toppled 1-0 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park

Now Rodgers and his players get the opportunity to atone when they begin their bid on the weekend of August 17/18.

The group stage of the competition will be completed on Sunday and Scotland’s European representatives – Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, St Mirren and Killie – will now join in at the last-16 stage.

The ballot is scheduled to take place after the game between Motherwell and Partick Thistle at Fir Park which kicks off at 3pm.

The draw will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1 and also live on the Premier Sports Player.
