Celtic announced their financial results to the year ending 30 June 2019 this evening. We do not have a good comparison to the season in question, as, unlike the previous two, there was no Champions League income, but both income and expenditure have changed since Ronny Deila left three years ago.
The good news: at £83.4m, income is up 60% from 2016, a staggering figure. I expect this will be around twice what any other club in the league earns, even those who also reach the Champions League group stage.
There’s lots of money coming in but all of it and more goes back out. Operating expenses (costs before player trading and exceptional items) were £86.9m, so all things being equal, without Champions League football we need to recoup £3.5m from play trading to break even. You would rather be in surplus, but this less than a fifth what we received for Moussa Dembele so is very manageable.
Player trading brought in an £8m surplus (Moussa) and in addition, there’s a Brendan Rodgers shaped “Other income” figure of £8.795m. Profit after tax (yes, tax, it is a real thing for some clubs) is £8.738m.
There is a lot of work goes into these figures. Merchandising, at £18m, is up slightly on the previous year but up 50% on the last Europa League season. This specific revenue figure, and season ticket money, is the bedrock of the club, allowing it to plan as it does. A great result for the commercial team.
Multimedia (TV etc.) income is where the Champions League money would appear. This figure dropped £18m to £22.082m. Making it to the Europa Group stage is still very valuable to Celtic.
More detail will be available when the Annual Report is published but by any measure, these are very solid numbers.

I hope the Celtic TV always has sufficient Bandwidth for the new subscribers, that was what really annoyed me before buying it for Pre-Season friendlies – not done that for a good few years now. ;)
Celtic is right up there with Global fanbases. I’d say they are more committed than some of the fake fanbases.
I always liked the Stone Roses and a big part of their Great success was the Mystery that surrounded them. They were not seen or doing media stuff.

What is the point of a huge squad if we don’t utilise them. Rotation means players who come into our ” first” team are match fit and ready and can hit the park running.
Make no mistake these speculative games benifit Celtic and that is my only consideration. What Slippy G or the huns do is of no concern.

Hope all is good not saw you on as much, maybe your just enjoying the fitba so far … accounts are a bit like stats and you could probably dissect in any way to suit … but they are there in black n white … profit / loss, incoming / outgoing … will leave that to the experts but again at leat they are out in the open to be dissected :-)
On the fitba front looking forward to the team selection today, even looking forward to see who makes the bench (hope Sinky gets in the 18) and might even make a debut in Jobo’s entertaining competition as I will be able to view the 90mins… it’s quite interesting reading the spread of choices from fellow Celts watching the game, especially in the games when only radio & highlights are available

I posted about this last week, Young Bayo had his TWO Goals against Hertz taken OFF of him earlier this season, and deemed as “Own Goals”, since then there have been several Goals attributed to certain Players, when they were quite clearly “Own Goals”…
Hertz player Hickeys effort was clearly deflected before it was anyway near the opposition Goal….Likewise….The Hun Goal v Livingston in mid week CLEARLY came off a Livi defender, and totally baffled the Livy Goalie….who was going the RIGHT Way to save the original shot…and yet the Hun Player has been allowed to keep that “Goal” …….

Japan were Superb and deserved their famous victory and a very well done !
their Attitude, discipline, Tactics and Bravery and Stamina was there for all to see.
Those Japanese fans were also Superb…at times when the Camera went on their Faces it looked as though some fans were in danger of wetting themselves with excitement…especially the lovely Japanese ladies !
Huns take note….Despite the Fervour and Excitement from the Japanese fans….there wasnt any Pitch Invasions !

What a game Japan played this morning against the World’s No 1 rated team in Ireland.
Certainly showed Scotland how to play rugby, I fear for us against them in the hot and humid conditions which clearly sapped Ireland against the Japanese energy.
Loving the Rugby World Cup, never watch the Scotland football team but always watch the rugger team.
