Celtic interim accounts for the 6 months to 31 December were released this afternoon. The standout figure is that, despite Champions League revenue being absent this year, football and stadium income was down from £16.8m to a similar £16.5m. This suggests other ticket sales increased.
The hit from the lack of Champions League came in the multimedia and commercial column, which was down from £19.5m to £7.9m, but the club still make an operating profit of £3.2m. So, we’ve a fairly solid club on our hands.
We invested £5.7m in players, while making a profit of £7.1m on disposals. With player trading, tax and interest all accounted for, we made a profit for the period of £6.601m. This Armageddon thing is working out quite well.

There is nothing wrong with taking a bit of time to stop and smell the roses … or laugh at the zombies … as long as (and this is the danger that neganon and others make clear) … we dont let ourselves fall into the same trap as them …. taking our eyes off of who is running our club and the sort of job they are doing …
the everyday bear thought that because they were (or at last appeared to be) doing better than us, they were doing well …. we all know that isn’t the case.
tomorrow I’ll revert back to my usual grumpy old self, who doesn’t like the commercialization of Celtic … and is afraid that Celtic is losing its soul ….

Just finished listening to an interesting podcast on Celtic Underground.Michael Kelly was interviewed.
No doubt a real Celtic man, Michael came across as very bitter about his removal along with the Old board.
Critical about everyone , especially Fergus but surprisingly about some of his family and previous old board allies.
Didn’t agree with him much but one thing resonated……we are very much a business now and the team plays very much second fiddle to that.
Does anyone think that ain’t so?

I agree …. KC brings something to the team that others dont … an ability make space for a shot, and more importantly, a willingness to have a shot on goal ….
but he is not a great passer, nor does he make a lot of chances for others and does not move well ….
for now, he suits the game we have been playing in the SPL, and has provided goals when others haven’t … but, he hasn’t done it in Europe, and I dont see him having the type of skills needed to flourish in the team that RD is trying to build. … as RD’s team is built, KC will have to adapt, or find his role restricted.
