Celtic interims stunning-ageddon

858

Champions League football this season has enabled Celtic to achieve a remarkable set of interim financial results for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2012.  Turnover was up 71%, a stunning-ageddon figure.

Ticket sales and other stadium revenue was up marginally, to £18.598m (2011: £16.446m), as was merchandising, to £9.847m (2001: £7.821m), both reflecting the ancillary value of Champions League participation, but the big increase was in TV and media income, £21.613m, up from a paltry £5.004m in the same period of 2011.

The only amber flag on the results was the increase in operating costs, from £28.388m to £36.961m, a 30% increase, which will reflect higher bonus payments for Champions League participation, higher wage costs and a more general increase in running costs.

Pre-tax profit came in at £14.944m, leaving net bank debt at £130k.

These are fantastic results from a well-run club which will enable ever-more solid foundations to be laid.  We are also one of the few clubs to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League AND to do so profitably. Congratulations to all.

I’m participating on an online STV preview at 18:30 tonight, looking forward to the small challenge ahead.  Hope you can join us.

The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

I’ll see you there.

We never invest in the playing squad.

We are just really lucky all our top players play for free.

Night before a massive game, great financials and still my happy.

    Cheer up man!!

    Hail hail

I’ve only been on here a few month’s – love the fact that

even though some poster’s are not even in the same time zone

as CP – the club means more to them than it does to some of

us local’s. So, tomorrow when the team’s come out and the champion’s

league theme play’s – I will spare a thought of all those who would

    love to be here.

  3. dont think celtic need to splash out stupid cash to get good players in, they need to continue doing the homework, getting them in young and giving them opportunity to shine. once ready sell with another young player ready to take his place. why change what is for the most part a successful plan. when players are ready to make 50k a week they can find another club tat will pay them that.

the money earned from european football and sales should, in the main, be used to pay down debt and for capital investment in and around parkhead and lennoxtown. expand the business side of celtic to improve regular income (hotel, cafe, social clubs, museums, (office space to let), improvements within the stadium, potential for country hotel at training complex etc…

do all of that and celtic could potentially pull in over 80 million + per year, without c/l income, then its a case of being able to compete in europe, at the business end more regularly, hold onto quality players for a little longer, reduce pricing etc…

if in 5 year time little has been done in tems of capital investment i will be more than a little annoyed

for now i am oen minded

    20hr flight …be lucky if its 7

    More than 7 hours

Bada Bing says 11 Hours direct from London

So it’s so many hours waiting on a Flight from Johannesburg

then 11 Hours direct to London that’s if the flight is on time

then there is more hours waiting around for a connecting

flight see how those hours add up then there is jet lag and

so on it does not make sense rushing someone back into

a key game who will be mentally exhausted is not worth

    the risk

Am I right in believing you refer to CELTIC when you say “Accountants are on the serious fiddle” ?

If I’m correct then that’s some accusation, my good friend.

    Hail hail.

    Hail-Hail Pigale

All I want from the Board is more transparency honesty and

trust the Club’s so-called accountants can basically say oh

this amount for example say 75 Mil is the over all running

cost’s for said financial year in fact they can come up with

what ever figure they like and pops into their bank balance

but are they really being honest that is the question I along

with every other share holder would like to see where each

penny is going too who and where not posting out wee or

A4 Booklet’s saying basically oh the running cost for this

Season was ‘X’ amount without being more specific then

    they will have more trust

Celtic’s losses over the past decade are so huge that it is quite likely that the company will never pay Corporation Tax again in our life times, unless of course there is major change in the European football scene.

I agree young Man with what you are saying although honesty and trust is

also important as well as good and sensible business acumen

You are constant with your desire for the infrastructure around CP to be expanded and redeveloped

As I understand it your position is that this will boost revenue

Do you have any figures to substantiate this claim

IMO in the current financial climate it is difficult to get any reasonable return on capital investment

  9. Just dropped in to ask…..

Reminds me of a time when i sat down to watch bbc highlights of a Scotland game.

Avoided score all day/evening….told auld man i didn’t want to know score (he’d listened to game on radio earlier).

Anyway, our Maestro McStay scores a good yin and i jump for joy.

Auld faither says….”his next wan is supposed to be a belter…”

    “awe, da!!!”……lol.

Mind you, he was right. McStay scored again from long range into top corner.

Can’t remember year or opponents…so long ago….only that it was at Hampden.

  11. great figures, lets hope that they are taken as proof of the success of the clubs business plan and not a reason to hit people over the head for not splashing the cash when summer comes round.

success on the pitch and a fundamentally secure organisation off it is surely what we’re all after
