CELTIC KICK OFF V DONS

1

CHAMPIONS Celtic will kick off the defence of their title against Aberdeen at Parkhead on Sunday July 31.

Ange Postecoglou could take the Premiership start as a good omen – the Hoops took maximum points off the Dons in three top-flight meetings last season.

The Celts won their first domestic away fixture since February 14 when Kyogo Furuhashi and Filipe Jota struck in a 2-1 success at Pittodrie on October 3.

Skipper Callum McGregor got the winner in the 2-1 victory at Parkhead on November 28 after Portuguese flyer Jota smashed in the opener.

PITTODRIE JOY…Portuguese ace Filipe Jota races away in triumph after netting his first goal in the 3-2 win over Aberdeen in February.

And the on-loan Benfica ace was the star of the show again in the north east when he walloped in a double in a 3-2 triumph on February 9 with new Bhoy Matt O’Riley rifling in the other.

Jim Goodwin’s men failed to make the cut at the break and dropped into the bottom six while Celtic went from strength to strength to claim their tenth title in 11 years.

The first Glasgow derby of the campaign against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s outfit is due at Parkhead on September 3.
