Celtic left focus will be here for a while

284

Daizen Maeda, Yang, Benjamin Nygren, James Forrest, Michel-Ange Balikwisha – a collection of souls who have filled in wide right for Celtic this season, have I missed any?  Possibly, amid so much churn.

Behind them, we’ve had Alistair Johnston (before injury), Anthony Ralston (before injury) and Colby Donovan (before injury).  If you watch Celtic, you’ll notice how left-sided we are. Little wonder. There has been no opportunity to build partnerships on the right.

Such are the vagaries of football. Alistair’s comments about being on-track for an early return are welcome, but it will be another month before we see anything like a product partnership on the right.

This makes us more predictable, opponents will focus increasingly on Sebastian Tounekti.  Big tests lie ahead before the shape of the team looks balanced.

I completely agree. Business vs Sprit is key in this

Neither side is right or wrong and deep down, even the fundamentalists know this, but we’re stuck in a situation where neither side will give any ground. Personal interest and narrow minded thinking will put paid to any progress, meanwhile we’re stuck in stasis, theres a real feeling and a lot of talk about resolving things “so we can move forward”. It ends up showing in the teams performances, it’s like we’re waiting for some sort of change that will make everything right again

I appreciate the irony of me pointing it out but nothing will change until we get more people like you involved. It’s the only way.

A long time ago, beginning with a meeting the CST had at the Celtic Supporters Club in London Road, I felt that for all their dedication to their am of having a greater say in how Celtic were governed, there was a meanness of spirit at play, manifested in confrontation, that prevented me getting involved.

Until there are signs that this approach is not working, which reality will and is demonstrating, I will do what I can to bring about the realisation.that a generosity of spirit is worth trying.

  2. The Norwegian FA had also said it would donate proceeds from ticket sales for the game to aid group Doctors Without Borders.

Organisers decided to go ahead with the pre-match protest despite Israel and Hamas agreeing to the first phase of a US-brokered peace deal for Gaza, which resulted in a ceasefire coming into effect on Friday.

Security at the stadium was increased and capacity was reduced. Nevertheless, a giant Palestinian flag was unfurled by fans inside the ground at kick-off – something Uefa may take a dim view of, given its opposition to politically motivated symbols being displayed inside stadiums.

    Brilliant 😂

Fair play to the lad. For someone looking for clicks and likes he was quick off the mark to put out his content to set the narrative/agenda.

As I said earlier, “no pressure “ on the new guy.

Thankfully no such self-interested click-baiting exists amongst Celtic fan media.

Imagine taking the Celtic equivalent in to a serious meeting 😲

  4. A couple on here, giving it the ” We”,and “Us”, must do better now and next season.Oh really?.

Who exactly would that be?.Answer greatly appreciated.

The presenter of the Rangers Rabble looks suicidal.

“This was a segment aired on the state broadcaster RTE about the response to my posts on the bill.

For many Irish people, this would have been the first time they were ever informed of the extent of the bill or were shown a critical perspective on it.”

    https://x.com/KeithWoodsYT/status/1976771617331331160#m

Sinn Fein support Irish people being jailed for [thought crimes] and still expect Irish people to see SF as good guys?

Good guys who want people arrested for thinking differently?

Good guys who shook the genocidal hand of krankie?

Good guys who expect Irish people to sit at the back of the bus with their mouths zipped up for fear of being called racists?

When they are getting called racists then they have already proved that fake Irish neo liberals have NO answers when being presented with reality based facts.

Nobody wanted this state of affairs but reality will win out, and reality will be taught in Irish schools about distorted stuff like history and religion, and pupils will be taught about WHO is doing the distorting.

  6. ‘Peace’ Has No Meaning When Right-Wingers Like Maria Corina Machado Win the Nobel Prize

As Venezuelan-American, I know exactly what Machado represents: the smiling face of Washington’s regime-change machine, the polished spokesperson for sanctions, privatization, and foreign intervention dressed up as democracy.

When I saw the headline “Maria Corina Machado Wins the Nobel Peace Prize,” I almost laughed at the absurdity. But I didn’t, because there’s nothing funny about rewarding someone whose politics have brought so much suffering. Anyone who knows what she stands for knows there’s nothing remotely peaceful about her politics.

If this is what counts as “peace” in 2025, then the prize itself has lost every ounce of credibility. I’m Venezuelan-American, and I know exactly what Machado represents. She’s the smiling face of Washington’s regime-change machine, the polished spokesperson for sanctions, privatization, and foreign intervention dressed up as democracy.

Machado’s politics are steeped in violence. She has called for foreign intervention, even appealing directly to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the architect of Gaza’s annihilation, to help “liberate” Venezuela with bombs under the banner of “freedom.” She has demanded sanctions, that silent form of warfare whose effects—as studies in The Lancet and other journals have shown —have killed more people than war, cutting off medicine, food, and energy to entire populations.

Machado has spent her entire political life promoting division, eroding Venezuela’s sovereignty, and denying its people the right to live with dignity.

Derek McInnes has turned down the chance to be the new manager at Ibrox.

    ………………

A few days ago YOU Posted on here that GERRARD was to be the next Hun manager and that it was a ” 100% CERTAINTY” ??????….although NO ONE had asked you for your prediction .

YOU made that CLAIM ” OUTTA the BLUE” ( NO Pun intended ).

YOU also claimed that YOU ” Invented” the Term…” CLUB SIGNINGS”….When THAT CLAIM was questioned….you later retracted it in a later Post.

You also claimed that ” YOU WERE NOW IMPORTANT” ???? How did that come about ?

YOU also CLAIMED in yet another Post, that YOU would BET ANYONE that their DA’s NEVER rated PAUL MACSTAY….????????

I was tempted to ask you ” HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT ?…..and HOW You intended to PROVE Your claim “in order to win YOUR proposed Bet” ?

My DA passed away in early 2024, please explain ” HOW YOU intended to ask him for his opinion of Paul MacStay or ANY OTHER Ex Celtic player” ?

My DA was a life long Celtic man, and he died aged 89….HE was also a massive fan of Paul MacStay….So, what the Feck was YOUR CLAIM all about ?

Is your mammy that other FAKE…MYSTIC Feckin MEG ?

Remind me to NEVER ask you for Horse Racing Tips….LOL.

You are just an ” ATTENTION SEEKING CHUMP” !

  8. Thankfully no such self-interested click-baiting exists amongst Celtic FC

Well apart from the official Celtic FC podcast, and the Celtic FC Youtube channel of course we can’t count the wi fi at Celtic park as its shite

Then there’s the test messages and e mails informing us to go and buy the latest overpriced tat with a Celtic crest on it, Brother Walfrid must be spinning in his grave at the blatant profiteering by those in power within Celtic FC PLC who have taken on the mantel of the Celtic ethos, a business strategy which contains a simple philosophy fleece the supporters(customers) , I think I prefer the clickbait fan podcasts at least some of the content is superior

  9. HORSE BETS YESTERDAY….

I managed to Bet TEN Winners across Three Race Meetings on Saturday. I did NOT Bet on EVERY Race…LOL.

The Prices ranged from 12/1, 7/1, 6/1, 0/30, 2/1 etc with only ONE Winner at odds on of 8/11.

The best I could muster was THREE Winners on Two separate ” LUCKY 15″ Bets.

I also managed to get the NEWMARKET PLACEPOT up….it Paid out just over £23.00 for a One Pound Stake….I had Staked £2.00 on it.

Overall, a very Profitable Day so I am happy enough.

It has emerged that the US Sevco owners confused Al Ettifaq with You GetTaeFuq during the interview process.

  11. Bizarre ending to the Gerrard saga. I’m lost as to how they’ve spent a week to get to this point. Whatever the reason for him turning them down, family not wanting to leave Bahrain, income tax bills, whatever the reason – you’d think you’d identify that within the first phone call on day one.

Now the new manager is already on to a loser and under pressure. They’ve handled the whole thing incredibly badly.

So you found your Post about SLIPPY….As I said it was a simple ” WILL HE/WONT HE” GUESS.

Are you still ” IMPORTANT” ?

How do you KNOW whether my DA rated Paul MacStay…..or NOT ?

  17. So Gerrard’s “turned down” the Sevco job.

I don’t think Stevie G ever had the slightest intention of going back to Govan. The taxman would’ve been waiting at arrivals — and that’s one reunion he definitely doesn’t fancy. He’s not daft. Coming back as a UK-based employee again may have opened up all sorts of HMRC problems.

The way I see it, the whole London “interview” charade was theatre. A nice bit of media exposure to remind everyone he’s still in demand. When the English press start saying “Rangers want Gerrard back”, that does him no harm at all when he’s looking for his next gig — here or abroad.

In short, he played the game. Got the headlines, got folk talking, didn’t have to get anywhere near Ibrox or the tax office. A handy bit of PR dressed up as football business.

  18. Jimmy….see post above.

I found the thread and copied and pasted the part about SG.

Now, it took me 20 minutes on my day off to do that.

The reason I did that wasn’t to be proven right but because I like you and your posts and I genuinely cheer you on when you’re bashing the bookie and I also cheer you on in life in general as I do with all good Celtic fans.

The Paul McStay comment was about people slagging off Callum MacGregor and I maybe should have phrased it better.

Anyway I hope you have a good yin.

I’m going to bet Scotland to win 2-0 tonight so whatever you do, don’t bet that.

  19. Quantum . you may be right. I think he probably was interested in the gig, at least enough to find out more. I don’t think he would have wasted his time going to London just to get his name in the papers.

He would have wanted to meet the new guys in charge and establish whether they would sufficiently back him financially and how much autonomy he would have to run the football club as a manager rather than a head coach.

I hazard a guess that he was not impressed by the budget or the fact he would, in effect, be reporting to Kevin Thelwell who, for the time being, continues to have the backing of the owners. Gerard is a brand, he has a presence that many young footballers would admire, look up to, listen to, follow. We know he is a very mediocre coach. He knows that. He would have wanted to bring in a host of coaches with him who would answer to him, not Thelwell.

My reading of it would be that having established the fact he would not be able to do things the way he wants he walked away. His brand is already tarnished, going back there and not winning anything would have damaged it beyond repair.

If he thought he could have gone back and won the league this year or next I think he would have jumped at it.

  20. Blogger GM

Hard to imagine any of our intrepid Celtic podcasters or bloggers could be as talented and clued up as that rangers guy you posted last night. Inciteful doesn’t come close to it.

I am sure the self interested idiot could learn a thing or two from our self appointed who know all about how football clubs should be run.

Interesting though that not a single word re Gerard from start to finish was uttered by rangers ownership. The Gerard camp were pushing their agenda into the vacuum as it progressed not the club. Fancy that eh ? A potential manager playing games and using the media to further his own positon. Never.

Funny though that one guy who does well from this is Brendan Rodgers who would have the wee short term Gerard bounce to contend with. Whoever comes in they will now be a poor second choice in the eyes of the punters. Brown brogues or not.

  21. We should not forget we pursued Eddie Howe for several months ( Lionsroars 67 mentioned this earlier )

We ended up pulling a cracker in Big Ange.

Gérard is not a clued up manager. Got lucky with terrible opposition at the time and no fans in attendance.

Many huns will be happy the”deal” has fallen through.

To be perfectly honest, I am more concerned about us. There is no Old Firm and our aspiration should never ever be gauged by the newest club in the league

    HH

  22. The rewriting of history is astounding on here.

Eddie Howe himself said everything was agreed between him and Celtic. He could not convince his backroom staff to join him. He pulled out of deal. Celtic stuck with him for along as possible as they would have been crucified. Funnily enough just like they are now but with made up reasoning.

  23. I think if Howe had taken the job he would have been terrific. Equal to BR and Ange. And, like them, he would have been gone after a couple of seasons once an EPL club came calling.
