CELTIC LINE UP CAP STAR

CELTIC are lining up a summer move for Burnley’s versatile Robbie Brady.

The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international is out of contract at the end of the season and the nine-in-a-row champions are hoping to have better luck in their first efforts to lure him to Parkhead.

Brady, who can perform at left-back or further forward, was on Neil Lennon’s wanted list last year, but he was persuaded to sign a 12-month extension with the Turf Moor club.

The Hoops are on a collision course for a problem in the No.3 position with Diego Laxalt heading back to AC Milan after his season-long loan deal expires while Boli Bolingoli will return following his temporary transfer to Turkey. The blundering Belgian, who cost £3million from Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2019, still has two years to run on his terms, but has no future in Glasgow.

The defender created chaos following his crazy hush-hush trip to high-risk Spain and then his avoidance of government quarantine protocols upon his return. He played a cameo role in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on August 9 and, after his two-day break was exposed, the subsequent Premiership fixtures against Aberdeen and St Mirren were postponed.

Brady is seen as the ideal answer to challenge Greg Taylor for the shirt, according to a report in the Scottish Sun on Sunday.

The former Manchester United starlet had spells with Hull City and Norwich City before moving to Burnley in 2017 and has been a key figure in the success they have achieved under Sean Dyche.

It could now be second time lucky for Celtic in their quest to sign the 54 times-capped Dubliner.
