CELTIC LINE UP DANNY BHOY

CELTIC are lining up a January transfer move for Shamrock Rovers midfielder Danny Mandroiu.

The Hoops have been tracking the 23-year-old star since the summer and, although a fee has yet to be agreed between the clubs, the Parkhead men are confident a deal can be struck for the Irishman, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Mandroiu was in the Glasgow giants’ sights when they paid £600,000 for Rovers’ versatile defender Liam Scales in August, but he slipped through the net during Ange Postecoglou’s frantic squad revamp that saw a dozen recruits arrive at the club.

The former Bohemians prospect has hit 15 goals and was called into Stephen Kenny’s Republic of Ireland squad for the summer friendlies against Andorra and Hungary.

Dublin-born Mandroiu has also attracted interest from the Premier League and Brighton have been keeping tabs on the exciting youngster, but Celtic aim to get in first as soon as the new window opens for business.
