CELTIC have been linked with J-League striker Thiago Santos Santana amid reports South Korean World Cup star Cho Gue-sung will NOT be coming to the champions.
With just over a fortnight of the transfer window remaining to strengthen his first-team squad, Ange Postecoglou is ramping up the Hoops’ moves in the market.
Shimizu S Pulse forward Santana has been mentioned as being a player targeted by the Greek-Australian gaffer, according to Japanese sports media Sponachi.
SHOOTING STAR…Brazilian ace Thago Santos Santana was the J-League’s top scorer with 14 strikes.
The Brazilian, who will celebrate his 30th birthday next month, has a wealth of experience after arriving in the Far East following four seasons in Portugal with Setubal and Santa Clara. He was the top-flight league’s leading scorer with 14 goals.
The outlet also claim the Parkhead team having been looking at Santos’ team-mate Yuito Suzuki, a winger who has also interested Belgium’s Club Brugge.
There are heavy indications Giorgos Giakoumakis’ days in Scotland are numbered with tales insisting the 28-year-old frontman is poised to undergo a medical at cash-rich Urawa Red Diamonds ahead of being unveiled as their latest recruit, as CQN reported earlier today.
It looked as though Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors star Cho had been lined up as the Greek’s successor, but any proposed deal now appears to be off with the 24-year-old international remaining in the K-League until at least the end of the season.
