Celtic long term land dividends

1140

As we reported yesterday, Celtic have been busy buying up land around the periphery of the stadium for many years. The club managed to get the deal to buy land behind the Jock Stein Stand done before the mineral seam running below it was discovered. I hear the excavation rights are estimated to be worth £50m to Celtic, who bought the land for £3m in January 2009 with money which had been earmarked to buy Stephen Fletcher. Hibernian thought the Fletcher deal was done but Celtic pulled out at the last minute when the land deal became available due to an emergency cash requirement at the Council, who needed to build schools to educate children arriving in the city from Eastern Europe.

Back then, when I asked why we weren’t signing Fletcher a senior source at the club told me, “We can only spend that £3m once and we need the land for burger vans and stuff.” Before kick-off, fans currently go off-premises to spend their money, cash that could be going to Celtic. Source added, “We’ll be able to buy a Fletcher every year with the catering income we’ll make from this land deal.”

Made sense at the time, makes more sense now.

That £50m is due to arrive in time to get the Co-op off our case and leave a substantial amount available to deal with what could be the first season we ever face Sevco- keeping them in their place.

Good luck to the Celtic fans based in North America ahead of the Féile on the weekend of 17-19 January. Events are based at The Plough & Stars, Philidelphia, include live music, a tour of the An Gorta Mor Memorial, a live Beyond the Waves broadcast and a Q&A with Celtic Youth Coach, Willie McNabb.

spoke to a mate from Ayr yesterday

he told me that Sh Pattinson doesn`t make idle threats re jail …it would appear not !!

  2. A rich stream has now been found below Ibrox park. This is worth a reputed multi million pounds”off the radar” said a spokesperson.

It is said to be sourced in the dairy pastures of Ayrshire. Millions of gallons are fed into the stream from the cows and bulls of that fine area.

Although has been tapped in small doses by Green and Whyte and the MSM, there are still millions of barrels flowing through to Pacific Quays and One Central Quay.

Alex Salmond who has partaken of the stream on many occasions feels that this fuel source will ensure a sustainable Scotland.

He states, “The future is Orange”

“…where our underground coach-park is going to be situated after 2054″

You’ve got it wrong. The new stadium will be underground once the mineral extraction is complete. Ground level will be where we park our jet packs.

at which you’ll still get ‘approached’ by a bunch of weans ‘offering’ to ‘look after’ it for a fiver!!!

I am going out and I will get back to you later but SNP. Whether you hate them or not, has done much better for Scotland, even with limited power, than the right Labour Government ever done in there 13 years. How can any sane person possibly supports a party that creates Lords. Lord this and Lord that. Utterly preposterous!

    You justify that to me

    ===

    Hello Hello Billy Boy,

FYI I am not a labour supporter i do not support any British party my political colours are firmly nailed to an Irish Nationalist mast. I am still awaiting you answer regarding regional automomy for Orkney and Shetland should they not wish to be part of a SEMI independant Scotland (you would still have Mrs Saxe-Coburg as head of state). Can’t see it happening though can you? As it would totally scupper wee Alex’s plan. Imagine the Shetlanders being in control their own mineral resources.

Why would an Irish Nationalist openly laugh at the Idea of someone promoting Scottish independence. Perhaps a quick read through the history of Scotland’s, continued, role in the subjugation of the Irish people may help you understand why i consider the idea of an independent Scotland as nothing more than a very surreal joke being perpetrated by a collection of hypocrites.

  9. Can any of you brave souls who reconnoitre on hun sites confirm that the not so bright

ones have taken Paul67’sssss article to heart (swinging brick)? hh

  10. My sources tell me that Celtic had to share 50% of the mineral rights with SDM as he owns the technology on moving and wrapping up football pitches which is necessary so that extraction can continue when there are no matches going ahead.

    Sack the board !!

That’s why they didnae tell us

Good article by GLS there and no surprise at the people who targeted him.

I thought the Fowler incident was hilarious on the basis that a man with peroxide hair and a earring (both of which could be described as effeminate symbols) was accusing someone else of being homosexual.

I wonder if Fowler is related to any of the Zombie bloggers?

    Indeed; just goes to show what I always suspected about Fowler;

an IQ lower than his shoe size.

A very interesting read. I bet Townsend,Savage and Fowler all regret their behaviour now as none of the TV channels would want such characters on their programmes.

  15. Quick question. We’re playing a game let’s say it’s against Kilmarnock. Boyd puts in a robust challenge on Izzy and gets a way with it. A few minutes later Izzy gets in an equally robust challenge.

Somebody doing the live updates comments – “Izzy didn’t try hard enough, I’d have broken Boyd’s leg” (not that in reality I think anybody here would comment in that manner).

  17. Steinreignedsupreme on

I never liked Ince on the basis that he liked to give it out physically but would run to the referee every time someone hit him with a hard challenge.

Savage – a seriously shite player, and an individual who I reckon spends a disproportionate amount of time looking in mirrors.

  18. Paul 67,

    My sediments exactly.

I really dig your down to earth article. Mineral seams indeed.

Although every thing is not all perfect in the rock garden, everything is not all gloom and doom as some would have us believe.

My thoughts from a comfy rocking chair on where we are :-

PL is not the Devils incarnate on Mother Earth.

53.000 season tickets in 1999 ( the most in the UK ) was truly amazing. There was only one way to go with a recession. But I agree we need more entertainment, however our crowds are still the envy of most considering we can only play who’s in front of us.

CP has been transformed, as has the whole area. Celtic are an integral part of the on-going East End regeneration process and transport to the stadium is moving into what we would expect. This can only benefit our attraction when introducing players.

Wi-Fi and hospitality are up with the best facilities in the UK.

Hypothetically we have the ability to spend £5-6 million on one player.

We are one of only 5 clubs unbeaten domestically in Europe.

There are obviously many, many more, but they are just fluoriting over my head at present.

To the many who constantly down our club, without going through the Parkhead gates, the Commonwealth opening ceremony will be the perfect opportunity to view Paradise in all its glory.

HH and may the quartz go with you.
