CELTIC MAY FACE UNITED IN FINAL

CELTIC will meet Dundee United in the League Cup Final on Sunday March 15th – if they are successful tomorrow.

The Tannadice side overcame Aberdeen 2-1 to seal a dramatic comeback at Hampden.

Jackie McNamara’s team left it until six minutes from the end until Nadir Ciftci headed in the winner in front of 29,608 fans.

The Tayside outfit were trailing early in the second period to a goal from Dons debutant Denervon Daniels.

Callum Morris forced an equaliser before Ciftci’s winner sent the Cup holders tumbling out of the trophy.

Stuart Armstrong, on the Hoops’ radar, and Celtic-bound Gary Mackay-Steven played the full game for United.

Afterwards Mackay-Steven,speaking to the BBC described the victory as”an unbelievable feeling. We just want to go one better and win some silverware this season,”

“For long periods it could have gone either way. It was quite open. It was end-to-end.”

When Celtic’s own appearance at Hampden is out of the way, they are set to test Dundee United’s resolve with an offer to take both Mackay-Steven and Armstrong to Celtic Park on Monday. United may have an eye on the Final itself when weighing up their options as the transfer window slams shut.
