CELTIC’S £3million misfit Gustaf Lagerbielke is in demand as he heads for the Hoops exit.
The Swedish international centre-back is on the wanted list of TWO Serie A clubs – Lecce and Genoa.
Lagerbielke’s stay at Parkhead will be cut short just five months after his big-money switch from Elfsborg. Brendan Rodgers is now set to cut the club’s losses and allow the left-sided defender to move on loan or in a permanent switch.
That has alerted the Italian top-flight outfits who are now locked in a transfer tug-of-war for the 23-year-old back-four performer,.
THE FINAL FAREWELL…Gustaf Lagerbielke looks strangely subdued as he acknowledges the Celtic fans after his appearance in the 3-0 win over St Mirren in the first game of 2024 – the match that could be his last for the Hoops.
Lecce’s move to land the 23-year-old player on a temporary switch has hit a financial hitch and now Genoa, who are poised to sell Radu Dragusin to former Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou who has been said is willing to splash £21million on the Romanian star central defender to lure him to Spurs.
Dragusin has started all of his club’s 22 league matches this season and is seen as a key component in the team’s line-up.
They will want to move swiftly to replace him and, according to the Tuttomercato report: “Lagerbielke is also in the sights of Genoa, with the Grifone wanting the Swedish central defender as the name for the post-Radu Dragusin, who is increasingly closer to Tottenham.
“The next few hours will be decisive, in one sense or another, with the two Italian clubs having further contacts both with Celtic and with the player’s entourage.”
