Celtic must call for resignation of Regan and Doncaster

1440

Tomorrow’s SPL meeting is something of a formality, albeit as dramatic as a formality can be.  The main scheduled action of the week is underway at Hampden right now.  We hear that after issuing threats to exclude 20 SFL clubs from future access to the top two divisions in Scottish football, SPL and SFA chief executives, Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan, will face irate SFL chairmen.

In mitigation of the criticism coming his way, Mr Doncaster is offering your money, in perpetuity, to buy votes to allow Sevco to gain direct access to the First Division.  If passed, they would probably enter the SPL next season, close to debt free, while Celtic carry peak debt of around £35m after playing by the rules and not qualifying for Champions League football during the last three seasons.

In short, if Mr Doncaster manages to persuade the SFL chairmen to back his plan, Sevco will become by far the strongest team in the SPL a year from now.

The plan has been rejected as wholly unacceptable by an impressive list of clubs with no association whatsoever with Celtic, many of whom exist hand-to-mouth and whose vote against will cost them considerable income.

Doncaster’s part in creating this shambles cannot be underestimated.  He perpetuated the myth that “Rangers” should and would be in next season’s SPL, allowing people to invest in an undeliverable strategy, including Charles Green.

Mr Doncaster is an employee of the company Celtic are an equal-twelfth shareholder in.  His actions are wholly incompatible with sporting meritocracy.  As Celtic shareholders we call for his resignation and, if this is not forthcoming, demand he faces a confidence vote.

“Without fear or favour” was the promise from Stewart Regan when he told us he would apply the rules evenly as the Rangers saga unfolded.  In advocating rules are torn up and replaced his words are laughable.

His assertion that the actions of Campbell Ogilvie over Rangers EBTs had been investigated and that Ogilvie was found to be without blame was misleading.  It is our assertion that the actions of Mr Ogilvie were not investigated at all and that Mr Regan spoke to protect his ally, who remains in position despite being “heavily conflicted” according to Mr Regan, and the SFA being in desperate need of a strong and active president.

Mr Regan is now wholly compromised and must resign or also face a vote of confidence. Two years ago he joined a dysfunctional organisation. He had a great opportunity to make a name for himself as a successful troubleshooter. Instead he’s made matters worse!

I have been, for some time, amonst many, that have felt that Messrs Doncaster, Reagan, and Ogilvie should not be holding the positions they do.

The thought of morality, integrity, honesty seems to be bygone qualities permeating everry aspect of life throughout the UK. Banks, chemical companies, news organisations, and polititians have all been found wanting. repeatedley, and seemingly without any regret or shame.

The big difference with the behaviour of Rangers/SFA/SPL is that there appears to be no way for us to simply remove these people from office. It has been clear for many years, despite repeated denials, that the relationship between Rangers and football authorities was far closer than that of certain journalists, and the political elite. It has got to the point that they don’t even bother to deny it. .It is an altogether unsavioury union that has left Scottish Football the laughing stock within the World game.

Somebody, I think it was Awe Naw, stated that EUFA will not intervene unless a member club approaches them. I will not question Awe Naw on such things. I am sure his knowledge is greater then mine on such matters. However, this leads onto another point causing much debate. Just what have the Celtic board been doing during this time? At first, the silence seemed to be dignified, and diplomatic. However, regardless of what they have been doing, the silence is becoming deafening. Other SPL and SPL Chairman have made their views very clear. I think it is time that Celtic now spoke. The overwhelming view of supporters is that honesty, and Integrity haver to be put first. The Celtic support is the biggest in Scotland by a huge margin.. They have expressed their opinions in Newspapers, in Television interviews, and of course, on the internet, on sites such as CQN. It is surely time that the board responded to the views expressed, and made it clear where it stands..

If the SFA/SPL bosses were to be replaced (Pease God, yes!) then I don’t think it would be out of line to suggest that anybody with connections to Rangers should not be permitted to be a part of the senior ranks. Their previous behaviour has proved beyond all doubt that the relationship is corrupt beyond any acceptrable standards . Green’s attempts to bully chairmen of other SPL clubs by claiming we are all doomed if Rangers Newco are not included in the SPL, shows that the new boss is as corrput as the old boss. Ethics and dignity take a back seat.

The big question is how do we get rid of them? How do we ensure that all the qualities that we want to see in the game take the highest priority? It would be nice to know just what Celtic are doing to make sure this is what happens

this is all in very dangerous grounds, think if i was an aberdeen, killie or hearts carrying 30 + million pounds of debt and all i had to do was close the doors and spend a season in sfl 1 to clear all debt i’d def give it some thought and if the worse comes to the worst and they dont accept newco aberdeen, killie or heart just sue the shite out of them sfl/ sfa.

why would you not go down this route?

Watch out if you are driving in Spain and you wear glasses while you drive. Police will stop people who do this to check if they have a spare pair of specs in the car in case the pair you are wearing get broken or damaged in any way. If you havnt you may get fined. Be a tare if a Scottish ref gets nabbed. Eh?? o))))

  5. Meeting at Hampden earlier today in Regan’s office:

Doncaster: I thought we had decided to stitch the rest of the manky b*****d’s right up…get one over on those micky c**ts on the other side of the city…oh sorry Peter I never saw you come in there.

Lawwell: Just in for Stewart’s staple gun, thanks…I’ll leave you to it.

Doncaster: As I was saying, we had that meeting with that other clown…what was his name Duncan…Long…Duncan Longmong…

    Regan: David Longmuir.

Doncaster: Yes, him. Well we decided didn’t we that we would stick it to the diddy teams with both barrels right in the face ( he simulates a shotgun into someone’s face). Then we would go after that lot in the East End…remember your masonic vow Stewart: we brothers of William must remain true to our code of dignified silence…then lie like f*** if you get caught.

Regan: yes I know Neil. No surrender and all that…but things have changed and anyway I was never a mason, I lied. The thing is you’re exceptional gift for supernatural levels of stupidity has turned everything tits up…you’ve made an a**e of yourself and f***ed up the plan big time. I cannot be seen to be associated with such a 24 carat d***head such as yourself…so I’m sorry but I will have to leave you out to dry…aaahhh…Neil!

With that Neil throws himself out the big window in Regan’s office at Hampden but lands on Jabba’s belly below bounces up and crushes Chris McLaughlin standing on the steps of Hampden.

You cannot buy Sky Sports in isolation. You need the basic Sky package and then the Sports on top.

Cheapest deal is about £54/month for the basic plus sports, but the majority of folk take an extra dollop of movies or somesuch, and around 40% have telephone and broadband withh Sky also as part of the package.

The recent EPL indicates convincingly that Sky’s busines model is wholly reliant upon the EPL, without which, they would lose subbscribers in vast numbers, hence why they are prepared to pay £6M for a single Reading v Norwich game.

The SPL is largely irrelevant to Sky insofar as they have 90% of their target market already. There’s no point paying very much at all to pick up the various minority markets. The money is better spent ensuring they don’t lose what they have.

  10. Surely if they are saying up to 6 SPl clubs out of 11 are in danger of going bust thats an even bigger incentive for the clubs in Division 1 to block the huns into Division 1 as they would more than likely be taking up those places in the SPL?

To clarify, you can’t buy Sky sports in isolation from Sky. You can of course by Sports 1 and 2 via a reseller such as Freeview or Virgin.

BT likewise are a reseller of Sky Sports 1 and 2, and with one of the Premier lots of matches now, will be a real option for many non Sky customers.

  13. Corruption is so common-place in this country that it passes with scarcely a mention. Politicians, press, police, banks and celebs are exposed on a daily basis.

But Rangers – or whatever their name is – is quite unique. All the other fraudsters, criminals and degenerates get the leper treatment they deserve. Not so with rfc – Cameron, Salmond, Davidson, Donohoe, media pundits have all queued up to do special pleading for the huns.

Now those at the top of Scottish football are proposing to torture their own rule-book to accommodate one club – the most corrupt club the in the history of Scottish sport.

It’s like a federal judge deciding to free Al Capone as it would damage undertakers’ business.

i thought we had an overdraft facility of 12 million dont know were the 35 million figure comes from, was that not our debt at peak, during the MON days which the club strived to reduce over the last decade. we also have a significant amount of talent in our football department which could generate massive income. Newco have lost just about every player they had worth anything. the newco, would, i anticipate, struggle to get a credit line with banks etc… which means they would have to spread their income over the year and would struggle to bring in players, an overdraft helps to maintain income during summer etc… when no other or little income is being generated. in addition, they would not benefit from european income for 4 season which means they cannot be put forward for CL place. but, that is all irrelevant as they should start from division 3 at best and should have to work their way up the league system

Entirely agree with all you say. I don’t trust the CfC Board generally but on this issue they have been first class. This is not a Celtic story. It must be killing the media that Celtic have given them SFA to corrupt in to a Celtic story..

  20. I HAD sky sports channels + espn for £28 per month on Virgin M+ package.

At £1 a day approx. not bad for all that footie.

No more. I’ll just sign up to Ch67 and visit Parkhead when I can. I love Celtic,I love football, but when the likes of Turnbull Hutton publicy state that the set-up is corrupt, then the rest of them can ram it.

Yip, Sky generates £320M per year from sales via resellers, about 5% of income.

    T4

SPL TV via Freeview’s Top Up TV platform is absolutely a feasible project, although the demise of Rangers inevitably mangles the subscriber numbers.

Top end forecast are 250,000 subs at £15/mth giving £45M income, less production costs of perhaps £100K per game. 2 games per week live, plus highlights and ‘club’ slots would put costs at around £12M, meaning break even is about 66,000 subs.

To match the Sky/ESPN contribution you need about 150,000 subs. After that, clover.

Scottish football has been dying for over 20 years. Whatever the outcome of this weeks deliberations, no decision will change this situation. Excluding Celtic, the SPL is probably below the English 2nd Division in terms of finance and quality. In the 60’s and 70’s we had to fend off the Liverpools and Man United from poaching our young talent, now we see the likes of Coventry, Huddersfield and Scunthorpe showing greater financial muscle.

Football hasn’t died because of what has happened at rangers. Its death has been caused by a combination of 42 league clubs supported by a population equivalent to the West Midlands, freedom of contract, proximity to the over funded english leagues, and fewer boys playing football.

Whatever happens this week will not reverse the trend, the decline is terminal. Martin O’Neil left because he “wasn’t prepared for life in the slow lane”, the slow lane is no longer available, our remaining hope is for recognition that the patient is dead and a rescue package for us, but I wont hold my breath.
