Celtic are Britain’s only former winner in this afternoon’s Champions League group stage draw, joining four English clubs, attempting to secure the trophy for the first time. Both Spanish former winners, Barcelona and Real Madrid, are there, as are Portuguese winners, Benfica and Porto.
Like Britain, only one of Italy’s former champions – Juventus – are in this season’s tournament. Past champions from Germany, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund made it, while Netherlands’ Eindhoven complete the line-up of nine former European champions in this season’s group stage.
Best of luck to all former champions.
Enjoy the draw, and remember, game dates can be changed, so be careful if you’re booking flights.

Its like a pile of sawdust telling you, that you are daft:)
Hope you are well.
Avoid Barca and Man City in draw hopefully.

Before the CL Group stage draw, it’s about glamour ties, which maximise income possibilities against chances of progression, which helps coefficients, finances, player experience, fan participation etc.
Realistically we would want to be in Europe after Xmas, and Europa League is most likely (but not only) route. So a good Pot 3 opponent is preferable. Accordingly avoiding Spurs is my wish as they would constitute most difficult home and away.
8 points from 2 wins and 2 draws would net us a chance to progress plus about €4m points prize money
All of the UEFA mentions of solidarity payments simply refer to other top flight clubs.
Unfortunately I’d take that to mean that the new club benefits from our qualification. I’m sure they will be suitably grateful ….
Whilst unhappy at the performance Tuesday night, I felt champions league qualification would be beyond us at the start of the season.
Too early in Brendan’s reign to change things.
So being in this draw is a major bonus and testament I think to Brendan’s management.
As far a signings go, McCarthy would be perfect for us imo. Also Gunter from Reading.
As for Craig Gordon, Brendan won’t drop him IMO on Saturday.
He’s too good a man manager.
Big Dorus will get a game after Craig plays a blinder.
Psychology u know!!

Agree 100% wae Corkcelt,
Surely you would want to get teams in the draw who we have a realistic chance of getting some points from?
We have a very mediocre team as it stands and the last thing we want is two or three skelpings by the best teams in the tournament.
You can keep your exotic cities thanks.
Gimme Leicester and Bruges please!

A point- a goal even- will be a miracle.
