Celtic are Britain’s only former winner in this afternoon’s Champions League group stage draw, joining four English clubs, attempting to secure the trophy for the first time. Both Spanish former winners, Barcelona and Real Madrid, are there, as are Portuguese winners, Benfica and Porto.
Like Britain, only one of Italy’s former champions – Juventus – are in this season’s tournament. Past champions from Germany, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund made it, while Netherlands’ Eindhoven complete the line-up of nine former European champions in this season’s group stage.

To me CG was standing back when he caught the ball.
He did this because the pace and spin from the bounce could have caught him out and this gives him 0.2 of a second or so to make an adjustment.
However it meant that he wasn’t braced for any challenge and Janko had a lot of momentum.
It wouldn’t happen again in years.
The first was quite unlucky as well.
CG when you add the Astana header is not having much fortune atm.

I’d be shocked that Everton would sell McCarthy for 6 or 7 million but he seems confident it could happen.
As for Roberts, we’ve spoken about the likelihood of City doing the deal. However, buy-back clauses wasn’t something I had considered because they are so rarely used in the UK. It would be a good away to keep the fee down.

I said last night that I’m not a great fan of McCarthy but if he comes I would reckon that BR has a plan to play him with Brown as the midfield grafters, leaving Rogic or Bitton as the playmakers in a midfield 3 (yes, Bitton could do the job). It also gives the option of Sinclair or Roberts and Rogic or Bitton in a midfield 4 with Brown or McCarthy.
The buy-back option for Roberts, IMHO, makes the deal a no-brainer for both clubs and the player and we should get the deal done now!

No matter who we get in the draw .we are there and the cash is secure . But to compete we need the few quality signings in now , as we saw on tuesday , the team has a few not up to the task .

If a forward had collided into CG (even accidentally) the ref would have given a free out. Goalkeepers have a different mentality today than they did even a few years ago. Chris Sutton was too harsh in demanding that CG take all out around him IMHO

I am convinced that Dorus de Vries will start on Saturday v Aberdeen, and it has nothing to do with anything that happened on Tuesday.
Even if Gordon had delivered a clean sheet in Israel, I believe de Vries was destined to be No 1 on Saturday. As I have said before, I don’t believe he was brought to Celtic to sit on the bench.
A decent victory will set us up nicely for our next league game, whoever that may be against.

I used to travel to L’Aquila in the Abruzzo region a lot to a customer Lares Techno. They had s terrible earthquake in 2009. You forget Italy is earthquake prone.
Hotel Azzuro Residence if I remember correctly but could be wrong. Great restaurant and superb wine except if you arrived on a Monday! Chefs day aff!
