I read Wales defender Connor Roberts say “99% of the world” will support Denmark in their last 16 tie tomorrow and thought- the underdog, fighting against the crowd. 99% of the world will not support Denmark, not me, for a start, but the ‘us against the world’ narrative is one of my favourites.
As a rallying call, it is surely more effective than the alternative. Today’s footballer is an immensely well catered for athlete, apart from his 90 minutes on the park and (relatively few) hours on the training field, he will struggle for little. What does he have to fight against, if not perceived ranks of people wanting him to lose?
Beaten, humiliated in Europe, trophy-less, written-off by many among our own, singled-out by the Government. Ange Postecoglou will not have to work hard to convince the players is really is them against the world. This squad really does have plenty to fight against.

Just watched the press conference and I have to say that I feel really good that we are watching the birth of a new Celtic footballing Revolution… 😊 🍀
The key takeaway impressions for me are:
– Everything that influences success on the football field will be looked at. Dom doing it his way and looking at a 10-Year Plan.
– Ange giving everyone a chance to join his revolution, but making it clear that for players and staff it is his way or the highway!
– Ange brushed aside the Ajer-type wantaway questions in a way that suggests to me that his full focus will be on working with the “I’m In Boss!” types and that he won’t expend energy on the “I’m out.” types.
– Youth will be given every chance to make an impact.
– Club understands the importance and urgency of getting new players in and hope to make announcements soon. Such players will only be those who are a good ‘fit’ for Ange’s thinking and methods.
– it seems clear and unequivocal to me that Ange is making all the football decisions and that Dom will ensure that he will get all the support he needs to implement his revolution. Also very clear that Dom is the CEO, but in a good way.
– I believe Leigh Griffiths has a chance to show his worth, like every other player, but that Ange will be ruthless with him or anyone else who doesn’t get with the program.
– Both Dom and Ange come across as very smart operators who are working as a team and who know exactly what they want.
– Ange is someone who is very much a ‘Live in the moment’ person.
Very early days of course, but I for one am really looking forward to seeing how this new Celtic Revolution goes. 😊 🧣🍀

Biggest take out from press conference today …. Is that the Domster will review and implement a new structure fit for purpose for the next 10 years or so…. So when the big fella walks into the room , you better be sitting up straight….

Hope he goes on to have a great career and become a stalwart of the Republics team but I am drawing the comparison between his and Chris Ajers experience , they are poles apart and hopefully Celtic will stay strong and demand what we all know what he is worth which way more than the rumoured low ball offers at the moment .
