CELTIC PAIR ON THE BRINK

CELTIC double-act Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston are hoping to play their part tonight as Scotland edge closer to the World Cup Finals next summer.

The Hoops defenders were second-half substitutes when Steve Clarke’s men came back from a goal down to overcome Greece 3-1 in a dramatic qualifier at Hampden on Thursday evening.

Tierney and Ralston are now preparing for tonight’s 5pm match against Belarus at the same venue where the Scots have the opportunity to guarantee a play-off spot if they pick up three points and the Greeks lose to Denmark in Copenhagen in their 7.45pm kick-off.

ROARING SUCCESS…ex-Celt Ryan Christie celebrates his crucial equaliser against Greece in Scotland’s 3-1 win at Hampden on Thursday night.

At the moment, Scotland and Denmark are joint top of Group C with seven points each from three games with the rivals holding a five-goal superior goal difference after their 6-0 romp against Belarus in Hungary during the week.

If the form book is followed, the automatic qualification spot will be between Clarke’s men and Kasper Schmeichel and Co with the nations, who drew in September, due to clash in Glasgow on Tuesday November 18.
