Kyogo’s off-target attempt at a penalty kick on Sunday brought into focus a concern we should have ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final later this month. Josip Juranovic started the season as our designated penalty taker, with Giorgos Giakoumakis his deputy. Neither are still at the club, meaning Aaron Mooy was promoted from third to first choice.
Aaron has done well from the spot. When he was unavailable, Jota stepped forward. The Portuguese only just evaded David Marshall’s arm with his first attempt, before dinking his second penalty down the middle. Neither left me with much comfort.
If we are faced with a penalty kick competition in 10 days’ time, and Mooy and Jota are both on the field after 120 minutes – which is unlikely – we have to hope that Kyogo is also on the field and spends much of the time between now and then practising. Your guess is as good as mine as to who would hit the fourth and fifth penalties.
In short, our third-choice penalty taker from the start of the season is now our top man. He is recovering from injury and unlikely to last 120 minutes. Ange invariably changes his forwards during the second half and would almost certainly swap out Kyogo and Jota in an attempt to win the game before extra-time completes.
If the game goes to penalties, responsibility is likely to land on novices, some of whom have low expectations of playing right now, and remember, the other side get a lot more practice taking them than we do. Celtic would be clear second favourites.
Starting from a low base, we cannot fully resolve this problem, all we can do is spend the next nine days practising from the spot. Lots.

Could it be as simple as just telling him to think which way he wants to dive and then go the opposite way?
100% success guaranteed?

Joe Hart actually has good history involving saving and scoring penalties
Re penalties, surely Var will overturn our allotted 5!!.
SS- thanks for Man City info, with Celtic having CL money for 2 years x £40 million approx,we won’t have a better chance to spend money on infrastructure. I can’t see the expense of adding seats to the Main Stand, bit toilets, food outlets need a refurb. We should be putting pressure on the Council, for a licence for Fan zone, if you were at CP on a match day at 1.30 with a couple of kids, and it starts raining, where do you go? The Forge? Ive seen the Man City Fan zone, and it’s excellent, cafe/bar facillities, big screens to watch whatever live game is on,Q&A with ex players, it’s very functional without being too high end.The Barrowfield upgrade, which was in the planning about 3 years ago, needs to happen, we need a proper indoor pitch, other upgrades were additional pitches, dressing rooms extended,medical/rehab facility, all teams except the first team were to be located there,Lennoxtown for first team only.If we can’t invest now, when can we?

The lounges in the South stand were refurbished during the world cup.
So I don’t see anything happening in the near future .
Penalties…
im sure if we asked those nice HUN gentlemen which direction they intend to put any Penalties, they would share that info….just to give Oor JOE a chance of saving them ?
HUNS, HUNS, HUNS….How I HATE them !
To any Lurking HUNS…

Great wee excert on how refs could be openly mic’d as an aid to transparency
Not only as seen in the French game
Also at Var decision making time
Come on sky you listen in to the ref/var decision making!
why can’t we at a game.
it may explain rules to the tellyviewers but the fog of just having crap officials is kept and no criticism is allowed-yup defy your own eyes

Folks, does anyone have the newspaper image of the gravestone “R.I.P. Rangers” May have been the Daily R. or The S. Hate using their name on theses pages but it would make a nice framed picture for my shed
Thanks in advance
Email me tctommycampbell@gmail.com, might have what your looking for.
All joking aside. If the game went to pens,we’d have to sub Joe. We’d have no option.
Apparently that G40 is to be a wedding venue place. Some extremely nasty stuff posted on FB about it last night.
If I remember correctly, our plans were more Celtic end whereas this thing is Rangers end. Could be good for the East End anyway.
PS with the amount of hotels being built in Glasgow (St Stivs has posted on this ) and no obvious tourist uptick; a hotel at CP would not now be viable.
An Dun, agreed, as I suggested earlier… which do you feel has the safer pair of hands, Siegrist or Bain?

Aye, I posted it a couple of times, but without MadMitch around I got no responses -)))
So,
some thoughts.
I am trying to find out who the owns the land, and from that who the investors are, I will but just havnt got to it yet.
In principal though I struggle with the idea of an entertainments venue smack bang in the border lands of parkhead and dalmarnock.
beyond match days, how does it attract an audience, compete with Barrowlands, St Lukes, 2 miles from merchant city, the transport links beyond taxi cabs is limited, and limiting.
the parcel of land itself, bordered on westside by the curve of old dalriada street. and what is known as lisbon lions 2 car park , is a funny shaped long triangle, on the east side is the parkead station tunnel, it brings as lot of groundwork engineering challenges.
i would expect environmental studies and remedial works that do not come cheap, and the fabled car park mining shafts might make an appearance.
https://www.reglasgow.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/dalriada-street-G40.jpg
I dont think the plot has ever been owned by celtic plc and is out of the celtic triangle footprint.
So i wonder about the actual business case, who the investors are, and where the money comes from.
All of that would be the same considerations as to why Celtic plc have not yet progressed the hotel/museum development, does cost outway return until your in a more attractive market for our product.
I do however agree with Bada, 2 years of CL particpiation, cash in bank, the new cl format from season after next, more gauranteed games,
so how i see it, match day extended experiences by fanzones and stadium upgrades good.
permanent built and owned infrastructure , i still struggle with why bother if it cannot gaurantee a level of income.
The huns think NEH will bring revenue of £2-3 million and profit of £1m. Their outlay was £12m with more still to spend.
I am sure the plc consider all these things and are just stuck with what to do next.
as a bye the way works are happening at Barrowfield.
Hairlikespaghetti – I’d go for Siegrist, mate. I think Hazard may be back from his loan in Finland so I’d even go with him before Joe for pen kicks. Bain as well. I’d literally take any professional keeper on our books over Joe for a pen shoot out.
SS
re. the proposed venue next the Celtic Park.
I’m sure it’s the people who own St Lukes in the barras who are behind it.
Ooofttt!! You reckon big Joe would pull a ‘Kepa’ and refuse to go off??😉
ST,
it is, i just didnt want to put their names up. lol.
Kyogo misses a penalty at Rugby Park. 2 days later and CQN has overwhelmingly decided the semi-final is going to a penalty shoot-out.
Oh mammy daddy.
in the public domain anyways, didnt need to go searh
One Star Leisure ltd.
£2m only, seems a tad under cooked.

Celtic will hammer Sevco at Hampden.
If we had lost the recent Glasgow derby I’d be worried about the semi-final. Having won that game, the players know the league is in the bag, even if they can’t say it publicly.
The Bhoys will go into the Hampden clash with renewed confidence. Sevco know it’s their last chance saloon and will all have to play the game of their lives to unsettle a Celtic side riding on the crest of a wave.
Bring on the Motherwell.

Real Madrid 6/4 @ Chelsea….😵
Paul, the other big penalty factor is the goalkeepers . Joe hasn’t looked like getting near one .
On the other hand ,McGregor hasn’t had to face one for about 30 years .

Talking of money in the bank; Ireland forecast to have a €16bn surplus next year.
Time to pare back the ‘temporary’ Universal Social Charge (USC) we have been paying since 2011 to pay for the bank crash/bail out. Was paid off years ago
——————–
That is quite interesting Coneybhoy.
I was on with two different Real Estate advisors for an Ireland transaction coming up.
Last time was the crash and we got locked into the 10 year agreements that the government underwrote.
The change in market conditions now and the shift out of the city and people going back home has shifted all the dynamics there.
Another boom time to come ?
Well a controlled expolsion earlier (about2pm) just along from our offices on Petershill road and another was planned for later.
Some absoloute nutters out there.
D :)
Benji Siegrist is an excellent penalty goalkeeper. I think he’s taller than Joe too, with a longer reach, so he looks imposing; but his record is also strong.
What happened to the ‘ fold like a pack of cards ‘ money?
