Celtic player luxury not afforded to Maribor

678

While Ronny Deila rested 10 players ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League play-off decider, Maribor changed only four players for their 3-0 win over Zavrc, who were three points ahead of them on the Slovenian league.  Wednesday’s goalscorer, Bohar, was replaced midway through the second half, while Tavares came on for the last 10 minutes.

Whatever regrets Ronny has over yesterday’s defeat he’ll get over it when he sees a dressing-room full of players who have rested and trained appropriately all week.

“You do a Tea Biscuit guide, takes ages, and the article gets changed….arrrrggggghhh.”

What is the etiquette when it comes to something like the humble Bahlsen Leibniz plain chocolate biscuit?

For those not in the know, the chocolate hangs over the side of the biscuit*.

Does one trim the chocolate off side or go for the traditional much into the biscuit?

*Other biscuits in this genre are available at all good high street supermarkets.

Saturdays game will maybe shut up some people who complain when commons & Griffiths don’t start. Neither did themselves any favours with a ponderous performance. Griffiths miss was poor. Ronny’s only regret would have been to give them their chance.

Went up myself yesterday. Several spaces where I was but all tickets were sold out. There was a lot of people trying to punt tickets on twitter as well. £30/40 return bus journey is very steep.

Kris Commons scored more than 30 goals last season and in my opinion for a period of about 2 months he carried the Celtic team last season.

I don’t think he should be discarded so quickly.

Well, as the guide mentions you need to walk before you can run, and mein gott!!!!! if you’re going in all guns blazing with a Bahlsen Leibniz then on your own lap it might well be it.

It was one of the head guys at the Association who told me that not all tickets had been sold. I do know that Celtic were still selling tickets on Friday afternoon.

  9. chrisvancoupon on

He did. Teams realise this and now take him out the game. He had very few shots yesterday.

Lennon’s team was based on hoping someone could work a bit of magic to win the game. Commons was that guy. So he got the goals.

Deila wants a team approach with movement. Does Commons suit this? His games so far suggest no.

You make to much sense , we’ve gambled to much lately trying to find a lubo or henrik as in “unearthing” quality for little output , for me KC comes under that umbrella ,class player and person , we need to let RD get his players playing his way then judge him , it might take two seasons for that to happen , and if he improves and the team does well we will start over new manager new players imo ;)

You make a good point there, still I felt for the fans that travelled.

If we put maribor to the sword on Tuesday, wouldn’t it be a nice gesture by the board to reimburse the fans that paid for tickets to watch a second string team?

After all it’s loose change in comparison to the money that comes in through the turnstiles and from UEFA .

Catch a beer during the season mate.

What about my suggestion that the support model needs changing in order to get the balance right?

    Any downsides?

I’ve heard from a few people who’ve spoken with Neil Lennon that would support your theory, he was much more in favour of individual player’s abilities than tactics.

Ronny seems to be the opposite. I really hope though that there’s a space for Commons in this new system.

  14. Anybody know what happened to that old banger of a supporters bus at Inverness yesterday? We commented on it when it passed us after the game, then we saw the traffic cops had pulled it over. It certainly didn`t look fit for purpose, was just wondering if the poor fans on it had to make alternative plans on how to get home. .

Celtic’s 2 million strikers are in the wee diddy league of world football transfers where light years below Peterborough just scooped 5.5m for their star man……Assombalonga.

Is there anything fans can do to stop these ridiculous kick off times for travelling fans (all clubs fans)

Btw hat doffed to hardcore of fans that make these trips in all weathers and at a fair cost to themselves :))

Lick or nibble all of the chocolate off and carefully insert the remaining biscuit back in the packet. Repeat for the rest of the packet.

If anybody notices, tell them it’s a new shape of rich tea.

  20. New players, new pitch, diets and lifestyles. Yep but when is the scouring regime getting challenged ?

We need to be spending our meagre revenue better – less Balde and Banguras and more wanyama and Forster.

We haven’t heard because this is new territory for Ronny but not enough being communicated about how we scout and attract talent then how do we hold them for long enough not to have to build a team each year ?

Anybody else concerned about this ?

There is no mystery about it.

Robert Kelly it right fifty years ago when he said that he would not let television near football it would come to ruin the game.

He, and Harry Swan of Hibs were ridiculed by all and sundry for holding such reactionary views.

And hands up. I was one of those doing the ridiculing.

TV has become A Frankenstein for football and when it has completely destroyed the game it will toss it on the scrap heap and move on to whatever the next advertiser’s flavour of the monh is.

Paris prices have obviously increased a wee bit since I was there last; when you could treat a red-haired woman on a blue bike to a fine meal and a bottle of wine, for two empty ginger bottles…. or wis it a blue-haired woman on a red bike….?

Anyway, any other hotel suggestions por favor/si’l vous plait/gonnie?

  25. See Ronny has been questioning aspects of Lennoxtown.

Oddly enough very early in his Celtic career, WGS was expressing concerns about the quality of the place.

  26. marspapa,

Ye, still to make my mind up to drive or go to the inty after work and get the mire bus.

Probably the latter as my bhoy has dumped me and going with his mates.

  27. We all know we can recover from the defeat at ICT on Saturday…over the course of the season.

But we also know that we will not get another CL chance this season if we are defeated in Tuesday’s game. We’ve had our customary two chances :o)

Ronny sent out a team at ICT that should have good enough to secure the points.

No comfort zone for players if they can’t adapt. Lack of effort is unacceptable.

King Lubo’s mnemonic FIFO, is entirely appropriate

    Fit In or Frigg Off

    Or variations thereof.

  28. Bobby Russell.

We passed a bus that had stopped in a lay-by to let the bhoys to do the toilet, I thought to myself if the police come along there could be a bit of trouble, about a mile along the road there was a police van heading towards them, that could be the incident your talking about.

  29. Big wavy

I was making a similar point , every two years we will be in transition , if Rd is successful EPL teams will be in for him , same for players , the question is when do we start to show determination on keeping our best players for a decent crack at the CL
