Celtic player luxury not afforded to Maribor

678

While Ronny Deila rested 10 players ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League play-off decider, Maribor changed only four players for their 3-0 win over Zavrc, who were three points ahead of them on the Slovenian league.  Wednesday’s goalscorer, Bohar, was replaced midway through the second half, while Tavares came on for the last 10 minutes.

Whatever regrets Ronny has over yesterday’s defeat he’ll get over it when he sees a dressing-room full of players who have rested and trained appropriately all week.

Unfortunately due to a prior arrangement I won’t be at the game on Tuesday.

How did you enjoy yesterday? Minx said she saw you and I had a wee look for you at half time but couldn’t see you.

Might take your views more seriously if you put the spotlight on the managers who have failed to develop players they have agreed to accept. And if they didn’t agree to the signing of any player they should have walked. But they didn’t.

  3. Oh, by the way I’m wrong, it’s now been 7 1/2 years he’s been our head of scouting, appointed 23rd Jan 2007

That was a post I copied and pasted from Hamiltontim,I didn’t want to offend you by removing the bit HT sent to you.

but your welcome to join us for a drink before the game.

I think it’s a matter of record that Forster was spotted by Thomo, and Hooper by Gary Parker.

Big Vic was indeed one of JP’s signings, and fair play to him for that.

Can’t think of any others that have made us any money, but im sure someone will enlighten us.

The Serbian fella will score goals for fun for us, he is playing against better quality than he will encounter in scotland on a weekly basis, his record at inter level is good, just a pity they didn’t go for him last year when they could have got him for a mill of your brit pounds.

    I had a talk with ACGR about your suggestion, will wait see who we get, if indeed we get someone >}

I still reckon it will be Barca again.

Georoid1998 the Grab All Association does not surprise me in this as they have sold out to SKY although by all accounts the gaa fan isnt falling for it so far.

I had a quick look at your proposals. I think the Overseas Season Ticket is a great idea.

I’m not sure how spreading the cost would be achieved though unless I’ve missed the point which is possible.

At 23 years old, who do you expect to develop Amido Balde.

Did you watch Danny McGrain with him last season at halftime ? Trying to encourage/show how to move his feet in preparation for receiving a ball

Do you believe NFL picked him ?

Or Mo Bangura ? Or Rami Gershon ( thank God he was only on loan)

Have you been impressed with a lot of our signings, costing our club substantial amounts

    of money,

Again my opinion, and from what I watch, we have squandered a fortune, on poor signings, with quality really deteriorating.

It’s not downsizing, for me it’s poor decisions

    Hail Hail

Good to hear Serbian guy is that good. Just hope we can get him. I am really nervous about value in the market at that price. We have kissed a few frogs in the stroking department recently so due a prince. If not another king of kings.

Thanks for the invitation sir but I,m a bit strapped at present and can’t say when I’ll be over next. You never know I might catch you in the Tavern on the Tollgate some day.

GDC and strathclyde police would not Allow Celtic and rangers to play in the city on the same day

But … It’s Celtic and sevco now .. They are a wee diddy 2nd division team in their 3rd season of existence so maybe the authorities don’t see an issue there ;)

Regards flags at the games … If were allowed a Swedish flag for lustig .. A Scottish one for Charlie .. And a Norwegian flag for the gaffer and a couple of players

Wouldn’t see an issue with an Irish one for Toni stokes or a Palestinian flag for beram kayal

You will remember when the olde paper back season books that gave you free entry to watch the reserves.

Now it’s grabbing a few quid off us at any turn.

  16. Cowiebhoy

I asked why any manager would remain in his position if players were brought in over his head and still remained. Why would he? Love of the club? Money? The manager at the time remained and he is as much to blame as anyone.

  17. The hun game against Queens Park is being played in Airdrie as Hampden out of use for football for a while yet.

A KoK is a dream too far I fear !!!

He will do well for us IMO, he won’t get ragdolled about, strong in the air and has good pace, tech better than any striker we have on the books, tho that wouldn’t be hard.

For Ronny, tis all about fitting pieces into the puzzle, and a spend of what is being banded about is some spend for us these days, I trust Ronny’s judgement on this one, if indeed it is Ronny’s !!!

    I will even go as far to say that if it’s JP’s I trust him on this one >}

Apparently the viewing figures through Sky are horrendous. Sky hoping for ad revenue through Irish diaspora and it shows no sign of materialising.

Hell mend them as some are wont to say.

When does that league structure proposal come into play with the youth set up?..the one with epl teams as well as some euro teams.

Auldheild , you comments make sense and i have spoken to you with regards to my Expat Season Ticket idea, i am not sure the appeal of the Overseas Season Ticket and would be interested in seeing the take up of this. I myself cannot see the appeal to be honest apart from you are paying more per ticket and the club gives it free to fans who cannot afford to go. It appeals to those who have money or have an enormous charitable ethos. I see little imagination from the marketing dept, £29 for a ticket for an spl game this year again is overpricing the product have we learned nothing? The idea should be to fill the stadium and charge £20 with peripherals food/drink, programmes, windfall, merchandising, gambling making up the rest.

Beram Kayal is an Arab-isreali. Poor analogy unless you meant waving the Israeli flag…

I do understand and accept that point, but , we do not know the terms on accepting the managers role, may not have been easy to walk if agreed to having players picked for you, if agreed prior to accepting the role – I don’t know any of that.

It is common knowledge though that Players have been given to the managers to work with – allegedly

Again a personal view, Celtic do spend a fortune on players and salaries ( so very well done Celtic) we really need to be doing much much better with that spend.

    That’s a frustration of mine

Sipsini, sadly those days are gone imo. I just mentioned the idea of the reserves games etc as a way of justifying or making viable such an indoor facility. I remember after Souness took over a reserve game on boxing day with 15,000 at it but it was pay in and that must have been late 80’s was it free earlier?

  28. paolosboots FC before PLC on

Georoid1998 only problem is sky is for 2 years, i hope its a failure and games are back on tv.

  29. gearoid1998,

The first direct debit to be cancelled by folk finding it tight in these troubling times will always be the luxury of sky sports.

Hell mend them for charging exorbitant prices to fund a league that is killing the game.

    Amongst others!

  30. cowiebhoy

That is plain stupid. A manager entering a job that maybe pays upwards of £10k per week accepts limits placed on him immediate to him signing a contract.

Sorry mate. Run this daft view of yours by someone else.

Except that Beram Kayal is an Israeli citizen from Palestinian stock.

Are we really saying that he is comfortable with flying the flag of another state to represent him and his own country?

Why don’t we just fly some Israeli flags too and then have a barney amongst ourselves?

Meanwhile, has anyone the slightest idea what all this does to the stability, form and wellbeing of two Israeli Celtic players on the field?

All of the above are just rhetorical so…..and anyway I’m on dinner duty soon.
