CELTIC PLOT RECORD KEEPER BID

CELTIC are pondering launching a record-breaking bid for Sparta Prague keeper Peter Vindahl Jensen.

The Hoops have been told they will have to DOUBLE their previous best for a netminder, the £4.5million they splashed on Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens in the summer of 2020.

The champions have targeted Jensen, but the Czech outfit are not keen to part with their 26-year-old shotstopper and, according to a report in the Daily Record, the Parkhead side have been told it will take a fee in excess of £8million for his club to change their mind.

Jensen has only been at the Czechs for a year after being snapped up for £1.25million after an impressive season-long loan from AZ Alkmaar.
Sparta are now looking to make a massive profit on the uncapped Dane.
Brendan Rodgers has been scouring the market for a successor to Joe Hart after the 37-year-old 75 times-capped former England international No.1 announced his intentions to retire in February.
The fans favourite said farewell in fine style when he bowed out after the Scottish Cup Final triumph over Philippe Clement’s Ibrox side at Hampden on May 25 when he kept a clean sheet and Adam Idah claimed the last-gasp winner.
Rodgers took the opportunity to look at Scott Bain, Tobi Olewaymi and Josh Clarke as he rotated his keepers in the 1-1 draw with Scott Brown’s Ayr United at Somerset Park on Friday night.

Benji Siegrist has another two years of his Hoops contract to run, but there has been no show from the Swiss last line of defence since the end of the previous campaign.
Speaking about the goalkeeper situation, Rodgers, as reported by CQN at the weekend, admitted: “It’s certainly one of the areas that we needed to improve and we’ve known that since Joe said that he was leaving.
“So, yes, that again, a bit of time, but we aim to have that, hopefully, done by the beginning of the season, for sure.
“There are loads of names flying about. So, just a good one would be nice.”
