CELTIC will discover their Scottish Cup Fifth Round opponents around 7.30pm tonight – if, of course, they bodyswerve disaster against Auchinleck Talbot in the 5.30pm kick-off at Rugby Park.
The ballot will be made immediately afterwards and will be broadcast live on TV while viewers also have the option to live stream the event via the Premier Sports Player.
Callum McGregor will be looking to complete the Magnificent Seven in the grand finale at Hampden on May 23. The club’s influential onfield leader has already won six winners’ medals in the competition among his glittering haul of 24-honours.
Two Premiership clubs who will miss out on the draw are Edinburgh double-act Hibs and Hearts who exited the trophy yesterday.
Former Hoops boss Neil Lennon led Dunfermline to a shock 1-0 victory over David Gray’s Leith outfit at East End Park in the afternoon while their city rivals lost 5-4 on penalty-kicks after a 1-1 extra-time draw against Falkirk at Tynecastle in the evening.
There was grief, too, for ex-Celtic skipper Scott Brown who saw his Ayr United side lose 2-0 to Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United at Tannadice.
Aberdeen, who beat the Hoops on penalty-kicks at Hampden to lift the trophy last season, face Raith Rovers at Pittodrie at 2.30pm this afternoon.
