CELTIC POISED FOR £5m VAN DIJK WINDFALL

CELTIC are set for a £5million windfall with Manchester City plotting a £50million swoop for former Hoops centre-half .
The champions have a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the Dutch international’s contract after selling him Southampton for £13million last year.
Van Dijk has become one of the most prominent defenders in England’s top flight and has emerged as a target for the biggest clubs in the Premier League and on the continent with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool also chasing his signature.

Yet City look set to win the race as Pep Guardiola desperately attempts to fix a defence that has looked shaky all season.

Hush-hush talks over a move for the player have taken place over the last two weeks as City move themselves into pole position to land the talented 25-year-old.

Etihad Director of Football Txiki Begiristain is working on the deal and hopes to conclude the move next month.

The Saints want to keep hold of their prized asset until at least the summer but a bid near the £50million mark could force a change of heart – and send a £5million bonus to the Hoops.
