ADAM MONTGOMERY’S season-long loan deal to Fleetwood Town has been cut short.
The 21-year-old left-back has returned to Celtic following an injury-stricken spell at the English third-tier club.
Montgomery, who has also previous temporary spells at St Johnstone and Aberdeen, signed a 12-month contract in July last year to be reunited with Hoops legend Scott Brown who had taken charge of the club the previous summer.
However, the switch has failed to ignite with Montgomery making only six appearances, his last coming in 3-0 defeat at Northampton at the start of last month.
HEAD BHOY…Adam Montgomery comes close with a header in Celtic’s 2-0 Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar at Parkhead in August 2021. Odsonne Edouard sits this one out.
Brown was sacked from his post at the start of September and his replacement Lee Johnston, the former Hibs gaffer, suffered a similar fate last month. Ex-Scotland international Charlie Adam is now in the hot-seat.
A club statement read: “Fleetwood Town can confirm defender Adam Montgomery has been recalled by his parent club Celtic FC.
