CELTIC will appeal Auston Trusty’s red card which occurred in a flashpoint moment during the 2-2 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.
The Hoops were leading 2-1 by the 74th minute when the USA international defender was dismissed following a coming together with striker Landry Kbore about 15 yards outside the penalty box.
Originally, referee Steven McLean stunned Trusty by flashing a yellow card, but it got even worse for the centre-back after the match official had been instructed to review the incident by John Beaton on VAR.
After a quick check on a touchline monitor, the whistler returned to the field to rescind the booking before producing a red card.

A TALE OF TWO CARDS…Auston Trusty is stunned to see Steven McLean book him after the incident with Hearts striker Landry Kabore, but it gets worse (below) as the referee flashes red after a check on the monitor.

The champions’ statement read: “We can confirm that Celtic Football Club will be submitting an appeal to the SFA in relation to the red card imposed on Auston Trusty, following the intervention of VAR during Sunday’s match at Tynecastle.”
Martin O’Neill felt the decision to banish his player was harsh, as CQN reported at the time.
The interim boss stated: “I do have an argument with the red card.
“The referee gave a yellow and was sent over, with VAR obviously re-referring the game.
“It’s no more a red card than a blue card – which don’t exist.”
The four-goal deadlock leaves Celtic trailing the leaders by six points with 15 Premiership games still to play.
