CELTIC REJECT AMBROSE BID

CELTIC have knocked back a £3million bid from Olympiakos for defender Efe Ambrose.

The Greeks have been searching throughout Europe for central defensive reinforcements.

New coach Vitor Pereira has already been unsuccessful in moves for Portuguese defender Bruno Alves and West Brom’s Joleen Lescott.

And he faces further disappointment with Ambrose after Hoops boss Ronny Deila resolved to keep hold of his first team regulars in the current window.

The Nigerian international has already been linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Ambrose insists he is happy at the SPFL champions.

He said: “I am still a Celtic player and I will respect my contract.

“If an offer comes and Celtic accepts, fine. But, otherwise, I will keep doing my best for Celtic and, hopefully, we will win the league again.”
