CELTIC RESOLVE ON SINCLAIR, DUFFY BID REJECTED

CELTIC have been told they will have to make a FIFTH bid if they hope to sign Scott Sinclair from Aston Villa.

The recently relegated Midlands side have rejected a fourth offer – believed to be £2.75million – for their 27-year-old winger.

However Celtic supporters can expect the deal to be finally agreed later this week. It is more a matter of when Sinclair signs rather than if.

Sinclair joined Villa for only £2.5million in May last year from Manchester City and scored six goals in 27 appearances.

The player worked with Brendan Rodgers at both Chelsea and Swansea City and rattled in 35 goals in 90 games for the Welsh outfit while the Hoops boss was in charge.

Villa, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are said to be looking for something in the region of £3.5million for the pacy wing man.

Sinclair has played in three of the club’s four pre-season games and new boss Roberto di Matteo is in no rush to part with the former England Under-21 star.

However, it appears the player is keen to be reunited with Rodgers at the five-in-a-row champions.

Now Celtic will have to go a little bit further to get the player that Rodgers wanted as a wildcard signing for this week’s crucial Champions League qualifier against Astana.

Rodgers has already added striker Moussa Dembele, from Fulham, and his ex-Liverpool defender Kolo Toure to his first team squad since arriving in the summer to replace Ronny Deila.

Meanwhile Shane Duffy remains a possibility but that could change if Charlie Mulgrew gets round to sorting out his deal to stay.

Blackburn Rovers are keen to retain the services of the Irish central defender and yesterday rejected a £2M offer from Brighton.

The 24 year old has a year left on his contract and could talk to Celtic in January.

He has not signed a new contract which Blackburn have offered him but he certainly is not short of offers with Fulham and West Brom joining Celtic in his list of admirers.

Duffy only follows one of these clubs on Twitter and that club is Celtic.
