Celtic rested and ready

Brendan Rodgers had to prepare a tired and injured squad in recent weeks as he competed for the League Cup, Europa League and league title.  He rested players at Motherwell, bringing criticism from some quarters, but won the League Cup, qualified for the next phase of the Europa League and sits three points clear at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand.

At Pittodrie we saw Celtic move through the gears.  Aberdeen are in their best form in years, but could not take a point despite two penalty kicks, one of which should have been tied in a Christmas bow it was so generous.

A little later, Neil Lennon took Hibernian to Ibrox.  Neil has a significantly poorer squad than Brendan and is even more affected by injuries, but he would not be defeated.  If Celtic turn up at Ibrox with the same attitude they or Neil Lennon had yesterday, they will shred Newco.

Odsonne Edouard looked like a player transformed after a short break.  His contribution was critical in delivering the result.  Scott Sinclair’s hat-trick thoroughly answered any questions about his form.  Both are ready to do the necessary on Saturday.

Madmitch moment? SS = Scott Sinclair?

Averages 28.29 completed passes per 90m

Averages 42.32 possession events per 90m – lowest in squad bar keepers and strikers

I’ve got tons. Let me know specific questions.

  4. i'vehadtochangemymind on

Seen him a couple of times this season cbn and I know he hasn’t always been on the front foot but I’ve felt that everything that’s happened he’s been involved with at some stage even if it’s just being available or dragging the play onto the wings – I wondered if the numbers could show that but can’t think how !!

  5. Good to see that most of us are treating tomorrow like any other game….3 pts for a win etc….however the undercurrent of anxiety, for me, is exactly same as any other game.

The bonus of our win won’t be…and that’s only because of the hun fans seeing the reality of where their team belongs…and that’s amongst the also rans in our league.

Got to admit I am intrigued as to what happens this transfer window…we’ve already seen a wee bit of procession planning….but got to admit I have my doubts about a short-term loan being the answer up-front.

I have a deep feeling of pride in our brave 800 who are going there tomorrow.

I think back 30 odd years ago and I would have been clammering for a ticket for this game.

I love and admire their defiance.

Chandlers has 2 bars…the kilbowie road side has the biggest projection screen….but there are many other screens in both bars…but if u wanna move between bars to the dumbarton road one…u need to pass yer pint through barstaff as u need to go outside to do it

Its quite a while since I felt the collywobbles for a hun game.

Perhaps because in the last number of years we have been their masters and perhaps because I can only watch on TV.

The fact that so few of our bhoys will be on s ( h ) ite for the game reintroduces a return to the minority status which perhaps fuelled the feelings of ” them and us ” with which I grew up .

I fully expect that Brendan and the lads will do us proud.

  16. Nobody will ever make me laugh like Billy Connolly, hard to watch him these days, sad but uplifting to see him carry on .

  17. Sipsini I hope the wee yin gets better. And you did the right thing not taking a ticket for that game and giving it to yer bhoy!!!!!

    Next time Bro.

  18. Dena,

As I heard it say…in a cartoon…fear yea not Penelope Pittstop…av got every confidence in Poilce Scotland and the Ibrox Stewards and the The Rangers fans…that everything will b ok…

  19. Celtic Champs Elect on

Just a wee update go tomorrow Mikey Johnston is starting tomorrow

I had a look online at anything GS 6/4. Hat Rick only 8/1. FGS 8/1. Appalling odds for an 18 year old

  20. THELURKINTIM on 28TH DECEMBER 2018 11:01 PM

Keep taking the deludamol dick dasterdly ……….

Seriously though all our support should be given large celtic golf umbrellas and disposable macs

  21. Celtic Champs Elect – are you sure Mikey is only 8/1 for a hat trick?? Given that just 7 days ago he was 80/1 (I had some of that, he scored twice and then Brendan hooked him!!)

  22. Celtic Champs Elect – )

You really need to start betting with Bet365!! Similar odds for anytime goalscorer (15/8) and first goalscorer (11/2) but to score 2 goals the odds are 11/1 whilst a hat trick is on offer at 50/1.

  23. A trip down memory lane for GordyBhoy. I’d be Delighted with this kinda 1-0 the morra where Keano and Neil pissed all over the place.

And another Trip down memory lane for BigRailRoadBlues with Greeno.

The biggie is if Kieran is named. The hun will be so deflated.
