Celtic rested and ready

656

Brendan Rodgers had to prepare a tired and injured squad in recent weeks as he competed for the League Cup, Europa League and league title.  He rested players at Motherwell, bringing criticism from some quarters, but won the League Cup, qualified for the next phase of the Europa League and sits three points clear at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand.

At Pittodrie we saw Celtic move through the gears.  Aberdeen are in their best form in years, but could not take a point despite two penalty kicks, one of which should have been tied in a Christmas bow it was so generous.

A little later, Neil Lennon took Hibernian to Ibrox.  Neil has a significantly poorer squad than Brendan and is even more affected by injuries, but he would not be defeated.  If Celtic turn up at Ibrox with the same attitude they or Neil Lennon had yesterday, they will shred Newco.

Odsonne Edouard looked like a player transformed after a short break.  His contribution was critical in delivering the result.  Scott Sinclair’s hat-trick thoroughly answered any questions about his form.  Both are ready to do the necessary on Saturday.

  1. Garry,

    We were swaying!!!

    We were swaying…..

It brought a certain equilibrium I think. LMFAO

Embarking and disembarking were the dodgiest moments, although I was holding on to the terracing styled railing going there and back. It’s the Festive Season after all.

    Merry Christmas… Let’s **** the huns.

  2. Lots of talk about possible players coming in and those ready to depart. Seems to be positive fibs from everyone, hope we all feel the same come the end of january.

With 8 players coming to end of their contract at end of season BR has opportunity to reduce squad size and increase squad quality within wage structure.

Used to love the auld Yoker to Renfrew car ferry, that is now a venue up the Broomielaw. Was dragged across the Clyde by chains. Best day on it was after winning league at Love Street 1986.

The danger on Saturday will be Lafferty.

    He has a mission.And it`s not football.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………

The Newco have not been as dirty as the deceased Rangers in the New Derby games. It will be very interesting to see their play in this one.

Lafferty is a disgrace of a player and he is just a hater. Will there be more than one out there to do other players?

Oldco under Smith played like animals in these games.

I’m sure brendan is prepared for whatever is coming Celtics way.

  5. MacJay

Big Ben the Croat could snap Lafferty’s giraffe neck in two, if he so wished. Morelos low centre of gravity and strength and playacting (diving) my only concern.

Danny McGrain, Roy Aitken, Murdo McLeod, Paul McStay, Tommy Burns, Brian McClair and sadly Judas. What a team.

****Goals Galore 4- new competition launching Saturday 5th January 2019****

Good Evening folks and we hope you all had a very pleasant Christmas?

Welcome to the launch of our brand new competition, “Goals Galore 4” which will commence on Saturday 5th January ( Don’t worry LMS will be back after a wee rest)

Simply pick a different team each week over the course of the next 10 chosen “fixtures weeks” and the entrant with the highest aggregate goals scored will take the top prize (roughly 90% of the total prizepot). To keep everyone fully involved, there will be a separate prize (about 10% of the total prize money) for the entrant who does best over the final 3 rounds. So even if you get off to a disappointing start, there’ll still be everything to play for as the weeks go on.

The cost of entry is £10 per team entered and this gets you one free joker which, when played, will double your score that week. You can also buy one additional joker for £5. You can also enter as many teams as you wish.

The prizepot will consist of 50% of the entry and joker fee, with 50% going to support two great causes, soon to be announced.,

Really, really simple to take part and all you need to do for now is just register your interest by sending an email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com. If you have a moniker, nickname that we can use to identify you once the competition starts then please tell us that. We’ll get back to you with full details asap.

Please feel free to tell your family and friends, share on Facebook, twitter, involve your work colleagues, etc. We are a competition Open to All. The more that enter means the bigger the prizepot and the more that goes to good causes.

    #####

I was watching a couple of YouTube clips, sorry that I can’t get the links, anyway, this guy in the clips, called – Adam Green, was discussing amongst other things that, Trump is going to crash the stock market, creating a worldwide recession, and that the only way out of the recession, will be the introduction of a worldwide currency, bitcoin, which the guy AG said would be controlled by Jewish bankers.

I know hew haw about, politics, finance, Jews, Cellic, and other stuff, only saying what I saw on a youtube clip.

Hope that you, your better half, and all the animals under your kind care, are grand.

    Hail! Hail!

Have to leave the internet for the night.

    Oot.

  9. Was in Love Street that wonderful day.

DD, Cathac”s brother had a tranny and kept us up to date about what was happening in Dundee. Mind you, when he was telling us about the winner, I could hardly hear him, because of the rejoicing all around us on the terracing.

    Great day.

    The minute`s silence.

If one or two of our supporters in isolation disrupt the silence , and I hope that they don`t , then so what ?

That is not and should not be a reflection on you or me or any other respectful Celtic supporter.

Unfortunately tribalism means that we do tend to feel a sense of shame.

I really don`t think that we should.

Are we really so concerned about the opinions of huns , their management , their culcher and their fellow travellers in the media ?

Do we really have to pander to their blatant agenda ?

Or should we treat their opinions with the contempt they deserve ?

    I would suggest the latter.

We really shouldn`t be so concerned about the hunnish opinions which prevail in the Scottish media.

And as a support , given time , I feel sure that we won`t .

I would be more concerned about the political displays and chants which are prevalent at our games.

They offend this Celtic supporter far more than the vocal interruption of a minute`s silence.

And they are certainly offensive to many decent Scottish people of whatever and of no religion.

Now that IS a rod with which we beat our own backs.

I got into big trouble the next day when my mammy saw me on the pitch at the end chasing Tommy Burns. ???

I do hope you are right , D.D.

Can we really skelp them again ?

    I do hope so.

11.30 pm kick off for us in Cheers Bar.

A fair number of the faithful will be there.

Maybe more than at Ibrox. :-)

  13. Wasn’t too worried about Saturday but hearing rumours KT may miss the game has me concerned

Anyone know what the injury is?

I would settle for a draw.

I suspect that Brendan would too.

  15. Superb Celtic

10 Men winning the League sounds the most awesome of games.

Celtic done some super stuff against an Aberdeen team that will do anything to get a meaningful result against us.

Odsonne coming on and doing what he done was MEGA. The thing is the Bhoys had worked Aberdeens socks right off.

Fantastic result and some fantastic goals by Celtic. Real Celtic goals.

I personally feel that we will skud them rotten and it will be Stevie Gee’s last game in charge at Doomdome.

We are fine thanks, hope you are doing good as well.

Trump is in a quandary, the Chinese and the Russians arny playing ball, I believe he has underestimated them big time, am no sure about his ability to crash the stock market and introduce a world wide currency, he would like to think he has the power, but imo he is just a blowhard twat, he is now playing with the big boys who won’t bend over unless it suits them, there will be another ” Recession”, for sure, stage managed as ever cos the banksters want more and more, bottom line is there are too many people on the planet to feed and it’s causing them problems, an economic type war will be on the cards soon enough imo, the world is in total turmoil just now, who will win is anyone’s guess, but I know where I would place my bet.

The Straits of Hormuz is the key and will be the trigger.

    Take care.

  18. Not idiots but rather “useful idiots”, there is a difference.

Wish I did “own” it , sadly I do not.

    Let us all be entertained.

  19. Why would anyone settle for a draw against them, they are pish, don’t believe they hype, take away the help they get from bent referees and they are at least twelve points worse off, they are pyoor pish, we turn up, we win, feck your draw, when was the last big domestic game we didn’t win under Brendan…….there isny one and there won’t be one this weekend at the bigot dome, feck them.

  20. Garry,

I agree with macjay1 that a point is a good result. Neil has really put Sevco under pressure for this game.

I’m hoping you are right, I know Celtic could do a real number on them but we cannae keep on pumping them so easily in their own midden, can we?

A useful idiot is still an idiot. The adjective does not change the intelligence status of the noun.

Just like a fenian bassa is still a bassa.

I know the source of the “useful idiot” quote.

It was nonsense then and in most subsequent usages.

I have never found much functionality in the idiot strata.

  22. If trueCastagnas comments about wanting to go to EPL,or Germany, shows the difficulty in attracting players.

  23. Pete

Aye we can, and I believe we will destroy them on Saturday playing fitba The Glasgow Celtic Way.

You will need to point me in the direction of the the Board quote and if possible who made it and when. Celtic accepted these tickets, not any one individual supporter. To pass responsibility to individual supporters is nothing short of outrageous, or as I said earlier reprehensible. Part and parcel of his £2.5 mill bonus I’m sure. Peter Lawwell spoke of both the “spectacle” and the “attractiveness” of the fixture that tells me all I need to know about his position. I said earlier this season we should not be mimicking the likes of Dave King, but we are, to a T. It is all about the Old Firm, nobody will convince me otherwise. Celtic see the 800 as useful idiots, that is the only opinion we share in this case.

    =============================================================

The shame of Celtic fans actually going to a Celtic game against the deplorables .

Meanwhile , CQN talking of little but the hun game .

Hundreds of useful idiots , including myself , will be watching the game in Sydney.

That`s better , I suppose , than having useless idiots.
