CELTIC RUBBISH VAN DIJK DONE DEAL STORY

CELTIC tonight insisted that no deal has been finalised to sell defender Virgil van Dijk to Southampton. It had been reported by a number of English-based Sunday newspapers that Ronald Koeman had won the £10million race to sign the 24-year-old Dutch defender. CQN rubbished this story this morning confirming that Van Dijk was a definite starter for the game against Malmo.

Earlier this evening a spokesman for the 4IAR SPFL champions said: “The story is absolute nonsense. Virgil will play on Tuesday. We have no agreement with any club.”

Celtic travel to Sweden tomorrow for the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Malmo, with a 3-2 lead from last week’s first leg.

Van Dijk will line up for the Hoops against the Swedes in the midst of some feverish transfer speculation.

Ronny Deila rested the stylish centre-half – along with eight other first team stars – in the 3-1 weekend win over Dundee United at Tannadice.
