Part of me would like to believe that Celtic destroyed Ferencvaros with a multi-cultural display of slick football as a consequence of the hostile reception they received for an expression of support for racial equality before kick-off. But that’s not true. The home supporters deserved no more than to see their team bettered and beaten, Celtic would have been as fabulous no matter.
An early goal followed by an early concession gave the expectation that anything could happen. Liel Abada’s returned to the first team after a few weeks rest did him the power of good, he snatched onto a poor defensive touch, squaring for Kyogo. What followed took me back 20 years….. it’s been that long since we’ve had someone with such composure.
Joe Hart could do nothing about the deflected equaliser but when he smothered a shot midway through the first half, he sprung to his feet to release a break. David Turnbull got the faintest of touches for what would prove to be another assist as the ball found its way to Joto on the left. The Portuguese drew four defenders before firing a shot that clipped one on its way into the net off a post.
Celtic were on fire now and spurned several chances to stretch their lead, the best when Kyogo controlled an inch-perfect Turnbull pass before dinking the goalkeeper, only to be denied by a goal line clearance. When the third came, it was another poster moment for great football. Turnbull won the ball for McGregor to find Kyogo, who played a pass into the box, between defenders. Abada did not break his stride as he found the corner of the goal.
A late consolation brought Ferencvaros within striking distance of Celtic but the visitors managed the game to the final whistle without concern. The Europa League knockout rounds are still a possibility but it will almost certainly be the Conference League, which Celtic are now assured of.
Newco accounts for the year to 30 June 2021 are out. I’ll do a more in-depth look later, a few headlines:
Comprehensive loss for the year was £26.024m, elsewhere you will mainly see the lower operating loss figure quoted, not that £24.153m is low.
For Financial Fair Play purposes, Uefa permit this loss to be adjusted due to the unique circumstances we have lived through. A quick ready reckoner of this:
While other revenue streams and costs remain consistent with the previous campaigns, gate receipts are down £17.46m (no fans spending money at games) and operating costs are down £8.8m (no fans to serve or steward at games). Subtract the former from the latter and Uefa will forgive £8.6m of the comprehensive loss, reducing the Financial Fair Play loss to £17.42m or thereabouts.
Football has returned to largely normal operations this year, so that £17.42m figure is a good proxy for Newco’s forward comprehensive loss. For a business that has never earned more than £59m in its history, the lambeg drums must be ringing the alarm! There’s so much red ink at Ibrox you’d mistake the Clyde for the Red Sea.

“As stated in note 1 the risk that key cash flows are not achieved as forecast, along with the absence of a binding debt facility for any shortfalls, indicate that a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on the Group’s ability to continue as a going concern”
Bitton has cost us in so many games due to his poor play and equally poor attitude hence him not having a large number of supporters.
However, as I said last night, he played extremely well, kept it simple and was effective in his role. Credit where credit is due but one swallow does not make a summer…..
TOTAL COMPREHENSIVE LOSS FOR THE YEAR (26,024)
Rangers International Football Club plc was incorporated in Scotland on 16 November 2012
The Board acknowledge that the uncertainty over the level of additional funds that will be required and a lack of a binding
debt facility indicate that a material uncertainty exists which may cast doubt over the Group’s ability to continue as a going
concern and therefore its ability to realise its assets and discharge its liabilities in the normal course of business.
Still feeling great about our tremendous win last night. Lot’s of great performances. I thought Calmac was superb as was Big Nir. Tony Rampaging Ralston battled like hell throughout and was unlucky when his header rebounded off the bar. What can you say about our front three that hasn’t already been said? Superb goals. As for Giorgios? He was instrumental in running down the clock. He held up possession and won two free kicks. Ange would have been very pleased with him.
Onwards and upwards Bhoys!

Simple fact is there’s loads supporters that know very little about football”
I think I may be one of them but, knowing that, prevents me from making proclamations about how terrible certain professional footballers on thousands per week are and also on how stupid professional mangers are because they cannot see how poor some players are and don`t select the personnel I would pick.”

Had Celtic released such a Statement, I would be quite worried ( and the MSSM would do its level best to increase that worry).
It’s a year to the day that my dad passed. I keep thinking that all the fireworks going off are a celebration of his life😉
I have only been at one game since we could get back in to watch.
It’s not the same without him.
Our tickets are getting used,so that’s a good thing.
Bernard was a good guy.
Ps- I’ve been a bit of a prick the last week or so,more than usual,so apologies for any upset I’ve caused to the blog 💚

67 EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS on 5TH NOVEMBER 2021 1:58 PM
Paul67 I agree with everything
But they are still 4 points ahead of us
Win the league celtic nothing – nothing – else matters
agree ,nothing else comes close this season.
——
I agree with you 100%.
*Celtic will never take the financial risks that are now commonplace at Ibrox.
*Celtic don’t have, or appear not to have, a line of well-heeled fans/directors with deep-pockets, willing to bankroll the club.
*Regardless of the years of financial turmoil since the new club was floated, they have, since August 2020, managed to put a more successful team on the park, and a better equipped management team in the dugout.
These are the facts that we have to deal with. Winning at all costs and under any circumstances has replaced ‘Aye Ready’ as the motto.
Celtic being the better-run club, observing strict financial probity and living within its means matters not a jot if TRIFC are winning ‘on the park’ – it has been proven.

The Blog, in the main , has been more cheerful tonight.
I am a believer in positive reinforcement and feel that such an attitude being voiced on CQN and other Celtic sites would gradually spread amongst the majority of the Celtic support. This, in turn, will lead to feelings of belief emanating from the stands and would affect the players confidence in a good way. Let`s try to be more positive about OUR team.
The MSSM obviously think the same as is evidenced by their negative approach to all things Celtic and their glowing appraisal of the Ibrox mob.

There have been many more much more deserving of the description :-))
You have been fine.

`night all.
Watching the game last night I had one major concern.. the first 30-40 minutes were played at a terrific pace and I was concerned that we would run out of steam in the last 20 minutes. We didn’t and I was thinking that our fitness has improved and that bodes well for the rest of the season
Taylor is now an expensive back up,we will get nowhere with him as LB,never a first pick,Montgomery and Scales are there,Bolingoli will be offloaded soon
The remainder of our season will be defined by our ability to dig out wins in certain games, those awkward games that win you the title, the 1-0s or the last minute goals etc when you have not played well. We have real quality and the team is settling down. On our day we will blow anyone away. But we can ill afford more draws against the likes of Livi and Dundee Utd. Yes its about style but now its about winning and we must be relentless.
More than a scintilla on show last night.
Oh Aye
Fairhill bhoy.
Your among your own:-) strong honest post fella.
Poor a glass of your tipple
Put the feet up and smile,
Cheers To Bernard.
Celtic.
Yir in the huddle mate,
Hail Hail
Finish 2nd in Europa you meet a 3rd place Champions League Team, Finish 3rd in Group you meet a Conference Runner up.
Money wise very little difference between Conference & Europa.
Winning Europa presently beyond us going far, even winning Conference is a possibility, I want to come 3rd in Group.
Are The Statue Loyal out tomorrow?

Love you lad – HH
Nir Bitton is a very competent footballer. He never get’s a settled run in our team in the same position. I thought he was poor against Livi but it was his first game starting in midfield for some time. Last night he was great. I have no issues seeing him in our starting line up. Also a great servant to the club.
FAIRHILL BHOY
Can’t believe it’s a year since Bernard passed.
Thoughts and prayers Buddy.
Memories are a wonderful thing.
And you’ll have loads.
God bless pal.
Have said for long enough, Bitton is the best passer of the ball of all our defenders. Has been for long enough. However, imo, he should never be played at CB.
Taylor and Ralston are too weeeeeee!!!!!
I like them both…..but………
Juranovic, the Croatian International right back at right back………………and big Scales at left back.
Julienne and CCV in central defence.
Also, it gives the mibs more options on who to send off too.
Hello again all you young rebels
Early rise this fine Celtic morn, trip down to rebel town for a couple
or three days to party with some of our fine bhoys in the Dub.
Really happy how the team is progressing, there will be more hiccups
ahead I’m sure, but the improvement already has me exited.
Another couple of quality players added who knows what we could
achieve.
Are you lurkin Paddy? go and find that big fat wallet of yours, there’s
gallons of the black stuff to drink. 🥳🎶
