CELTIC SEAL DEAL FOR IRISH WONDERBOY

CELTIC are poised to unveil the latest Irish Wonderboy Johnny Kenny as Ange Postecoglou’s fourth recuit in this transfer window.

The 18-year-old Sligo Rovers striker will cost in the region of £125,000 and the League of Ireland club are reported to have negotiated add-ons with a sell-on clause of around 10 to 15 per cent for the impressive youngster.

There are also claims of a further six-figure fee once Kenny has played a certain number of competitive first-team games for the Parkhead club, according to the Irish Independent.

Hibs will be disappointed in the breaking news as the Edinburgh outfit had been tracking the frontman after noting he had claimed 11 goals in 33 games in his breakthrough season at the Irish club.

Republic of Ireland Under-19 international Kenny agreed a new two-year deal with Rovers last month to make sure his club would be reasonably compensated when he moved on.

Celtic raided the Irish talent market in the summer when they paid £600,000 to Shamrock Rovers for 22-year-old versatile defender Liam Scales who has already broken into the first team at left-back.

A trio of top Japanese stars – Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate – agreed four-and-a-half year deals last Friday as Postecoglou continues to strengthen his squad following 12 arrivals at the start of the campaign.
