CELTIC SET TO BUY AND LOAN BACK YOUNG SAINT

1

CELTIC are close to signing St Mirren’s 21-year-old midfielder Lewis Morgan.

The deal should go through in next month’s transfer window and it looks as though the talented Scotland Under-21 performer will remain with the Paisley club until the end of the season.

It would be similar to Ryan Christie’s £500,000 move from Inverness Caley Thistle in August 2015 when he was allowed to return to the Highlanders for the entire campaign before eventually arriving at Parkhead.

A fee of around £300,000 plus add-ons has been reported to be in its way for Morgan, who has also attracted interest of English Championship outfits including Mark Warburton’s Nottingham Forest and Alex Neil’s Preston.

The Saints have already knocked back a £200,000 bid from North End in the summer, but the Hoops are likely to be successful with the player out of contract at the end of the term.

Celtic could also loan out a fringe player to St Mirren for the remainder of the season as part of this deal.
