Celtic set to match and beat Scottish consecutive trophy record

316

As you know, Celtic have won six consecutive trophies. This had been achieved three times before in Scottish football, by Celtic in 1905-09, Rangers in 1963-65 and again by Rangers in 1992-94.  On the latter occasion, Rangers established a new record of seven consecutive domestic trophies.

Win on Sunday and we match Rangers’ record from the (painful) 90s, but that would set up this season’s League title as a new record decider.

The 1909 Scottish Cup was withheld after crowd trouble after the Celtic-Rangers final reply ended in a draw.  Celtic missed out on making it seven trophies in a row when Dundee won the 1910 Scottish Cup five days before Celtic secured the league title.

Those dark days in the 90s were hard.  Celtic were an afterthought for most fo the country, a sporting irrelevance.  Sunday is a chance to exorcise those dark days.

Every morning on my way to work, I pass 6 street sleepers wrapped in sleeping bags and silver foil. Why???

    ============================================================================

    Too much demand.

    Not enough supply.

    Solution. Reduce the demand.

    Control the borders.

So a soldier who fights for his country cannot get a council house? How much has he paid? In your argument he should be at the front, not sleeping rough; yet many are. That nicely dovetails the housing and NHS underfunding. Mental health services anyone?

Immigration? You are smarter than trolling us with Daily Mail arguments. Immigration isn’t the cause of the housing or medical crisis. It’s not even a factor. Underfunding and morally corrupt policies (even for a Tory) are. And I include Blair and Brown governments in that accusation.

    Agreed.

    ” It’s not even a factor” .

So you think that numbers are not a factor.

    OK.

    As I said . Bewildering.

    Interesting chat on housing.

It was interesting after the war we could build the easterhouse, drumchapel, pollok and castlemilks giving men who came back fro. War decent housing, social play areas, health centres and schools

We were allowed to do this as our central government backed up our council’s when they went to the money markets to build the houses and amenities above.

This was the way until the class war ideolog elected in 1979 decided not to inhibit council’s doing this she insisted that all monies from sale of council houses went to repay interest on the initial amounts taken out.she insisted council’s can only get more finance once interest was paid.

From a govt whose pillar is the rights of a property owning democracy they see it as a prob for homeless

The homeless problem within ex servicemen is horrendous.,bout 10 years ago I was participating on a course run by footbridge,1 in 4 ex sojjers were on the street.a lot of them had many years service, alas the moreservice the more chaotic their lives seemed to be.the country does not give a fook .

    Good chat lads

    ERNIE LYNCH @ 10:59 PM,

    ‘The Right to buy…’

“It was the worst social and economic measure of the post war era.”

Well I’ll take your RTB and raise you financial “Deregulation”.

My point was, what WiTS alludes to, the policy in and of itself was not wrong imo… the labour party had a version. There was many ways it could be implemented to the benefit of all…

Of course as VFR and AN TEARMANN allude to it was nothing to do about free markets and everything to do with social engineering.

Most people were against the policy, including myself and many who bought there homes because they (rightly as we now know) didn’t trust the Conservatives.

It was/is an absolute disaster for sure.

It’s worth pointing out that the RTB infamous manifesto ’79…

Also talks about crushing the Unions and Stopping immigration…

Of course they were incompatible. The shortage of labour that putting the brakes on immigration would create would have given the Unions a stronger hand.

So they set about serruptiously accelerating immigration (another of todays socially engineered problems) and using every available resource to go to war with the Unions.

Still… back to the football… it will be interesting to see who starts and it will certainly be a tuff match.

A good read back on the debate of Social Housing, Homelessness and other social issues.

I work for a Social Landlord (Housing Association) in the North of Glasgow and we cannot get tenants into some property’s. The issue here is that there are houses there to let, but you need to be registered at an address or refered by a charity, to be on a Social Housing letting list. A bit of a catch 22. The right to buy was a terrible idea, that to me is what is at the heart of so much homelessness . IMO

    Bring on the Rosenborgers

We can be sure that those who condemn the RTB ( Right to buy ) policy don`t themselves own a house.

    Can`t we .

    Because that would be hypocritical.

    Wouldn`t it .

    Eleven hours and counting.

  17. Macjay, the numbers of immigrants who have socially rented housing is very small and doesn’t put a dent in the homeless numbers should they be removed from their socially rented house.

What is remarkable is that you, as an intelligent man, have been duped into thinking it does.

If you have an existing homeless problem , why would you exacerbate the problem by increasing the number of people who need homes.

Why don`t you provide the homeless figures for the same period.

I seem to remember WITS providing a figure of approx 300,000 .

Macjay, I like you, I really do. But on this one, you are way off the mark. Reduce the demand? Cater for those who have paid? What about the ill and disabled? Euthanasia?

What about those from the armed forces who have paid with their sanity?

You are wrong in this my friend and this isn’t about differing political views. It’s about basic humanity.

i really have to ask, those extreme view points you post on here, would you happily have sat in front of your mother and said all these things ?

would you have said these things to the parish priest when you were growing up ?

at the christmas nativity did you push forward to play all the innkeepers, because that mary and joseph are just migrants.

you said donald has a good start because of his scottish mam.

would yours be proud off the old man you have become and what you preach about the poor in other countries.

it makes me sad that in the celtic support there is someone like you.

your inhumanity , your callousness, your me first and bugger the rest.

    beyond comprehension for me.

  28. Anyway, we have a game tonight and I have only seen the following fact mentioned but not explained:

Leipzig are favourites, quite strong favourites, to beat Group Leaders, Salzburg. Salzburg are at Home.

As far as I understand, which is not very far on this matter, the Red Bull connection is insignificant .If that is so, why are the odds as they are?

I know bets placed determine the odds but Leipzig were even stronger favourites at the very outset of odds being offered.

    Anyone have any informed views?

    JJ
