Celtic set to match and beat Scottish consecutive trophy record

316

As you know, Celtic have won six consecutive trophies. This had been achieved three times before in Scottish football, by Celtic in 1905-09, Rangers in 1963-65 and again by Rangers in 1992-94.  On the latter occasion, Rangers established a new record of seven consecutive domestic trophies.

Win on Sunday and we match Rangers’ record from the (painful) 90s, but that would set up this season’s League title as a new record decider.

The 1909 Scottish Cup was withheld after crowd trouble after the Celtic-Rangers final reply ended in a draw.  Celtic missed out on making it seven trophies in a row when Dundee won the 1910 Scottish Cup five days before Celtic secured the league title.

Those dark days in the 90s were hard.  Celtic were an afterthought for most fo the country, a sporting irrelevance.  Sunday is a chance to exorcise those dark days.

    Your analysis is hopelessly flawed.

Would your mum have been comfortable with the cruelty of your comments to another human being ?

If so , then that might explain your mentality.

    But it wouldn`t excuse it.

The blinding arrogance you display in judging others from your own elevated level of sanctimonious superiority.

We can be sure that those who condemn the RTB ( Right to buy ) policy don`t themselves own a house.

    Can`t we .

    Because that would be hypocritical.

    Wouldn’t it.

    ————————————————-

What a silly thing to say.

But if we’re bandying about words like hypocrisy, how about strident ‘Control the borders! Stop the immigrants!’ opinions being barked out by, er, an immigrant.

Tonights game will not be easy there has been little difference between the the teams in the games already played against each other it could go either way.I expect Broonie to start with the player making way for him being Sinclair with McGreggor moving forward. So good luck to Brendan and the Bhoys I seea lot of Celts want the Rangers to lose tonight I am not one of them if Rangers go through tonight it will help us due to the extra European games stretching there squad also it would help Celtic in terms of coefficiency .H.H.

    No counter argument .

    Just childish personal nonsense.

The essence of someone who has nothing of significance to contribute to what is a serious issue , but thinks that personal abuse is the ” Christian ” approach ……

and something a Priest would approve of.

There’s a horse running int he 12.05 at Warwick today named “Hot Smoked”. I know hee-haw about horses and rarely back them. But when there’s a sign like this, coupled with odds of 125/1 then a wee ten shilling each way was impossible to resist!

‘The Right to buy policy in itself was good in my opinion’

    ####

It was the worst social and economic measure of the post war era.

    ————————————

It was difficult for the working man to partake in industrial action. I mean no wages for a few weeks and the mortgage doesn’t get paid, which could result in families being made homeless.

Any form of insurrection that could lead to arrest, same scenario as above.

They certainly didn’t introduce this policy to benefit the so-called working class, at a time when the working class actually had jobs.

I think that it was part of the overall scheme to emasculate to emasculate the trade unions – what real power does a union possess if it’s members are incapable of going on strike?

Strip away the live updates threads here and the majority of posts have nothing to do with the Club.

Guys misusing the site to promote their views or just they have bugger all to do and are going to use site for their type of debate and to hell with everyone else on here.

Why not take it offline & stop polluting the site.

Poster Numbers are slipping a lot of real top Celtic men like Hamilton Tim are gone,

Paul needs to do something maybe one Celtic Blog for all issues involving Celtic & a second for Any Other Topics.

Will be back for the match. Off ooot zzzzzzzzz

  17. Macay – Housing

The “market” has completely failed to offer any solution to the housing crisis. Even the Govt’s own stats show that we should be building 250,000 hoses per annum for the next 5 years to satisfy the current need.

The Govt COULD, if it wished, construct the necessary houses. The cost would be substantial, but the savings to the Health, Social Work, Police and Education budgets would offset much of this. In addition, there would be uplift in VAT and Income Tax, the multiplier effect of Govt spending on infrastructure. If you factor in the non economic benefits, such as making folk feel more secure, even happy, it makes the net cost to the country pretty negligible. The only thing stopping such investments is the right wing, neoliberal ideology of buffoons like yourself. Running a Sovereign country is not like running a household or a corner shop, as Thatcher tried to convince us.

Immigration, in the context of the Welfare State, is a complete red herring. All that’s required is the political courage to call out right wing idealogues like you and your Daily Mail pals.

” The only thing stopping such investments is the right wing, neoliberal ideology of buffoons like yourself. Running a Sovereign country is not like running a household or a corner shop, as Thatcher tried to convince us.’

Yes. Thatcher forcing those poor renters to buy their houses. And tragically , some did. And laughed all the way to the bank.

    How disgustingly capitalist.

Yeah. I know . We desperately need more of the Venezuela / Cuba approach . They really sorted the right wing ideologues.

And now we have the real up and comer Nicaragua .

Joey Altidore lives in Boca. As a follow Torontonian, I am sure he would welcome you. Tell me MIT said he would let you stay and watch the game.

But if he’s not home, Ian Bishop (ex of Man City) lives there, so maybe you could convince him . And if that doesn’t work, Arianna Grande and Jon Bon Jovi also live there. Bet they have lots of TV’s… think he might be more likely to be watching the game than her mind).

    Always glad to help.?

I wouldn’t worry too much about non-Celtic topics being discussed. Its always been the case. Take for instance the blog ‘Warning from Blue Knights comes home to roost”. Its listed on the R/H/S of the page under ‘Popular’

A lot of the bloggers who have disappeared are all over it.

Topics? Many many you tube links to songs. But especially the upcoming independence referendum. Including your good self! Celtic topics as well of course, again including yourself!

You’re right. That sort of sounds like a character from the Sopranos.

It is actually Jozy, the US striker(but bloody autocorrect keeps rechristening him Joey). He’s a mountain of a man… not sure I’d want him at my front door, pissed off and looking for money. Although, he does flop a bit for a big guy… Maybe a sly kick to the ankle, and I make my escape while he falls over.
