Celtic settle for double at POTY Scotland Awards

Stefan Johansen has been named PFA Scotland Player of the Year. His team-mate Jason Denayer is also celebrating tonight having picked up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year. Celtic missed out on a hat-trick when ex-Celtic defender John Hughes was named PFA Scotland Manager of the Year, ahead of Celtic’s manager Ronny Deila.

Deila won the Scottish League Cup back in March and yesterday won the Scottish Premiership after Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen side failed to beat Dundee United. McInnes was also a contender for Manager of the Year, despite having practically no chance of winning any silverware when the nominations were announced. Apparently mounting a ‘challenge’ was deemed sufficient.

John Hughes is a good honest professional whose side has won ONE match in since the end of March. That win came against Celtic at Hampden and was the result of the biggest Honest Mistake of the season.

Congratulations to Big Yogi regardless and all the best to him for the Scottish Cup Final at the end of the month. And well done to Stefan and Jason – both worthy winners.
