Alexandro Bernabei (24) joined Brazilian side Internacional yesterday for a fee in the region of £4m, providing a small profit on the fee we paid Lanus for him 2.5 years ago, although there a sell-on clause is likely to consume that.
Not every player will work out at Celtic, but ensuring those who do not make the cut leave at a fee consistent with what we paid for them is a critical part of squad management. The Americas have been good to us in this respect, with Giorgos Giakoumakis and Patryk Klimala both heading over the Atlantic for a higher ticket price then they arrived with. Giorgos only spent a year at Atlanta before the MLS side doubled their money when the striker went to Mexico.
There is a fair chance we will bring in a left back with a different profile from Alex this month. If so, the returning son will be celebrated as befits the best left back we have seen in 50 years. There are, however, strategic worries.
Signing players at their peak, when their value has already topped out, is a short-term play. It all you are interested in is this season, or next, you will be happy with this route. You and I are here for the long haul, though. We know how hard Celtic need to work to compete in the Champions League every year and what we need to do to stay ahead in Scotland.
I want to see a Celtic team full of Nicolas Kuhn and Arne Engels-types. Players we have worked hard to find and can bring to Scotland before their profile has reached critical levels. We will not keep many of them for long, but that will only make it easier to attract the best talent next time.
We have talked about Brighton owner and savant Tony Bloom a few times. On Sunday, Brighton won away at Manchester United for the third season running. They had three different managers for those wins and (including subs) used 33 different players.
Brighton are ruthlessly dedicated to plan. Bloom sets the strategy and the managers accept it or move on. Abundant transfer profits are ploughed into ever-improving scouting, higher wages and transfer budget. By contrast, we have a more short-term outlook. It will deliver domistically, for a while, anyway. Others will make more progress.

Looking at the table and remaining fixtures, I think a point will see us scrape through so long as we don’t get horsed by Villa. Let’s get the win tomorrow night and skip the final match drama.
BRRB
😂
My preference would be imminent demise of the new hun with no further generation of zombies emerging.

Let the good times roll. Always remember bhoys- you can never have enough good times. 👍
How do this evening’s results affect our chances in the CL?
Big chance to get into top 16 tomorrow.

*It wisnae known as orange Ontario for nothing back then, WWII changed all that, it was the ludge that originally ruled, the tangerine one at that, the first Catholic mayor of TO was elected in 1980, he wisnae a ben affleck then but converted while in office, since then there have been Jewish and even female mayors, their reign was over, as I said the influx of Latinos to the province changed all that as Canada is deemed a Catholic country.
After WWII the Federal Government called the provinces together and stated that the country needed more immigrants, Ontario pushed back saying only those from northern European countries meaning the UK and the Scandinavian ones, but the Feds persevered so they said that they would put them to work on farms and construction, the construction industry soon became run by Italians similar to the UK by the Irish, and similar to the UK those Italians made sure that their kids were educated and widnae have tae do manual labour, if possible, hence the change, for the better, in Ontario.
If we had this chance before it started, we would have bit the hand off it,even more after Dortmund, early goal hopefully and they will fold
After we get 3 points we can let the statto’s loose….
Chairbhoy,
Our result was very good against Brugges, great second half.Does not make the tame draw in Zagreb any better.
tame draw, in europe, away from home, dearie me.
we didnt lose because we didnt move the ball up the park and all get caught on the break.
it is a league, its not where you srat, its were you finish.
Chairbhoy
Yip massiive improvement in Europe thanks to Brendan 👍
Playing in a One horse league since 2012 and the Huns have ‘died’ and came back from the dead and already been in a European final in Seville losing by a single penalty kick.
So called ‘real’ Celtic fans regale about the long distant past and the the balance sheet, and the club ramp it up on European home nights, telling you to get there early, and when the greatest optical selling point for the club is arrived at, namely Celtic fans singing “YNWA” and then some club official arsehole puts the lights out and turns Parkhead into a DARK and DANGEROUS pickpocketers Paradise as Timmy holds up his/her hands…with your pockets lying wide open!
The Donald will surprise a few…

If I was Trump, I’d announce to the World that The United States of America is over!
And become, The United States of Reality!
And end ALL religion as it is fake news and tell the World how countless billions of people for many century’s have been the victims of a mind mugging from an assortment of books written by nobody who is alive right now to verify a single word from ANY of these ‘religious’ books. Written by men. Where? When? And for how much? Paid for by whom?
At first they used to say that God wrote all of the religious books, then it was only some of them that he wrote? Then the Uppities appeared and asked stuff like, “What does this God look like? And who can I ask about him?” etc, etc.
Trump should open the Oval office to the fake scum media and say, “Here are the books of ALL known religions. Now prove to me that they are true! And if you can’t….no more religion will be allowed to be preached or practised in USA.”
Oh and, “No country which preaches or practices this hocus pocus waffle stuff will be allowed to trade with the USA. Now go and practice some reality.”
Trump would save Humanity from the greatest psychological trick that has ever been played on it.
Go on The Donald!!! Make my day.

3 points tomorrow will take us to around 18th.
We will be qualified, if we don’t win we probably don’t deserve to go through anyway. The teams we are competing against to qualify (apart from madrid and sporting) are unlikely to get 6 points from here and if they do they’ll damage one of the others. It’s all about 3 points tomorrow.
Murdoch Mysteries enlightened me regarding Toronto’s bigoted past.
As Murdoch was a Catholic he was denied promotion and his boss made it clear that no Catholic would ever make inspector because Toronto was Protestant.
The Celtic shall wallop the yodelling Toblerone canutes tomorrow. Dermot Desmond told me when he moored his yacht at Fleetwood.
OJ you’re back! And just as mental as ever. 😚
SS,
“I disagree with you on everything you said”
Well,theres a fekin shock.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh, the show’s producers also shone a light on the masons.
Made the whole masonic lodge crap look as ridiculous.
New format shows why we need to sign to compete- £80M banked, and wages freed up – Bernabei, Holm, etc, etc. Squad players deemed surplus
Window open till 3rd Feb expect more movement now that Brendan is in full control
BSR,
” The Ragin at a draw brigade”
Yep,put me right in there.Better than accepting our place a bit further back on the bus.
Should have doffed our Caps to Zagreb at the end,for allowing us the privilege of throwing away a possible 3 points.
Anyone ever had their pockets dipped during walk on?
Nah, me neither.
raging at a draw – away from home…
I’m fooking raging. I won’t live long enough to see hun MK 4,5,6.
Disappointed.

…and the Canadian government wanted Northern Ontario developed. French Canadiens (catholic) we’re willing to move west but the Belfast of the north (Toronto) WERE NOT willing to have them. The National government won and the slow disintegration of the power of the OO in Ontario was under way.
Fantastic place to live! Been here since the magic year of 1967!

*he would never have got a job back then period, I just mentioned the first Catholic mayor of TO well the first similar Chief of Police was in 1989, he was born in Mauritius the son of a colonial police colonel , he actually graduated from college in Dublin, after completing training in the Staffordshire County Police, he served as a Constable in Bermuda Police Force where he met his Canadian born wife and returned to Toronto with her.
He applied for a position with the TO police and after filling out his application he was commended for all his work that is until the desk sergeant who had read it noticed his religion and said nae chance, but he got the job and eventually became the Chief of Police in a new and resurgent TO which has since then has had many different cultures in that role now.

Seems our lack of ambition at Zagreb may come home to roost.
PSV and Stuttgart winning. Benfica also.
=======================
B78 that post reads as tho you are still preparing to fail and picking holes in our club.i didnt think we lacked ambition that evening,we were full of it going in against Dortmund.
Do stop lamenting the past, tomorrow night is the future so stop preparing to put the boot in and get behind the team tomorrow night.
