Celtic spectacular interim accounts released

467

Celtic this afternoon released their interim accounts for the six-month period to 31 December 2016, the figures are as rewarding as expected.

Income was up an incredible 94% on the corresponding period in 2015 to £61.2m (2015: £31.4m). Profit from operations reached £21.4m (2015: £1.6m), although profit on player transfers fell to £2.0, (2015: £12.6m).

Investment in player registrations for the period was £9.5m, not that much higher than 2015’s £6.1m.

To put some perspective on these figures, income for the whole of last season was £52.0m, £9m less than we earned in the first six months of this season. Results against Lincoln Red Imps, Astana and Hapoel Be’er Shiva in the summer have had a huge impact on the club.

The lack of Champions League football during the second half of the campaign will see income drop off, but these figures provide the first solid evidence that income will to £80m this season for the first time, comfortably £50m more than any other Scottish club will earn.

The figures also reflect a significant uplift in sponsorship deals, which kicked-in this season – well done to all concerned.  The post-Brexit vote battering of the pound didn’t do any harm either for a club earning so many euros…….

I get the hump if people suggest boycotting but it has nothing to do with where anyone resides mate. Police intimidation happens regularly at Parkhead this isn’t something limited to away grounds.

    Rant away :-)

  3. OK , I’ll tell you .

Well there’s been no chopped pork in Tesco for weeks and the lassie at the cold meat counter was telling me that she just spoke to her boss today cos her boss had been on holiday and her boss doesn’t know the full story .

Plus , the lassie’s boss’ boss is now on holiday so chaos all round and they might not get to the bottom of it until she comes back from her holiday .

But anyway the lassie thinks ( and she’s not 100% sure about this ) that there’s been a shortage of chopped pork and the other Tescos are getting prioritized above Coatbridge .

Well I was gob smacked ( and miffed ) : especially as I’m having to take a piece wi haslet just now .

Anyway , I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything .

PS You didn’t hear this from me .

You can rely on us to keep your secret.

Have you thought about buying vegetables instead. ?

Ah, but there’s a vegetable shortage from Spain. Booooooooo

Ah, but it seems we are now importing them from the US of A. Hurrah.

    Don’t tell anybody. Shuush.

  5. Surprised we didn’t get more out the door in January

Cifcti .. de varies, ambrose, commons , GMS could all probably be allowed to move on and not really effect our season.

I’m pretty sure brendan wouldn’t have stood in any of their ways.

  6. Hi Bhoys

The 5th goal was a thing of extreme beauty, the likes of which I did not ever expect to see in Scottish football. The fact my team scored it just made it so much sweeter.

The team are playing magical football and the players are oozing so much confidence it makes it easy for the squad players to be fitted in when required.

The club’s finances look to be the best they have ever been. I don’t ususally pay to much attention to this side of things but I realise in the “modern game” these things matter.

The monkeys are in such disarray that they are now trying to find a way to get us out of Scottish football (what’s new).

Some of them don’t believe our financial results. What is it they don’t understand about money matters? We do things in the right manner and they can’t.

So come on bhoys stop greetin’ aboot the board and their politics and enjoy this magical time we are all having. Put the biggest grin you can on your face and your heart on your sleeve and love life.

The only complaint I have is that I don’t know enough monkeys to smile at (take the pish out of).

  7. Congratulations to the PLC for accumulating profit.

I hope to congratulate them more when

    a) they over invest it on providing our manager with the resources he requires to fulfil his vision.

    b) we pay the living wage as a minimum to all employees and instruct all agencies contracted to work with us that they do so to,

    c) Support Res12 fully without fear ,favour or love of the Blue Pound.

  8. More good news :-

Our under 20 team were down 0-2 at halftime.

    Won 5-2 .

Anything the big Bhoys can do and all that.

  9. Evening all

I must admit I cannot get too excited about the news of our financial health. It’ s not bad news – for us- but it does concern me that should our income continue to grow we will be at the stage where our income exceeds that of the other 41 senior clubs in Scotland put together. Perhaps it does already.

I did though enjoy the quotes from the various Hun sites if only because they made me think of the Young Ones episode where Scumbag College and Footlights go head to head on University Challenge Footlights are winninng easily when the camera cuts to Scumbag Rik who is squiriming with humiliated embarrasment. ‘We are being completely thrashed…Isn”t there anyway we can cheat?’ I am sure His Glibness and Jabba will be coming up with even less plausible ideas than Neil, Mike, Vyvyan and Rik could manage even as I type.

John Menzies and Dobbies. She’s very highly thought of. Personally, it’s a positive move that the board have gone outside the traditional comfort zone and appointed someone who isn’t a 50 or 60 something grey suited man.

I know, again the support have it in their hands to force the suits to do something.

Cash is all the support have, use it wisely, force the change for the better, in saying that, the majority of the support don’t have a clue what is going down, and dare I say care, Res 12 showed how out of touch most of the support are, I would also wager that most still get their info from the msm.

    TET @8:43,

Good point about the percentage of bhoys who know about res12, I would say less than 10% of the bhoys I know and they are not numpties either !

I know they are not the same club, but the demographic that follow the new club are likely to be the same as the old club, so …………………………………..and all the others who lorded it over us for years even though they couldn’t afford them, these results will have them feeling the way we did back then and is is not pleasant.

The more insightful among them will realise this and be sick to the pit of their stomachs, the others will just be furious and this anger will blind them from making the right decisions that would help them.I’m loving it as the commercial says.

  16. Anybody know what Celtic’s financial report would have been if we had lost 4 games that we won?

  17. prestonpans bhoys on

    TET,

Or another question would be are they interested, for instance if you said the end product of a particular cause would be the stripping of titles then that would gain their attention.

EMERALDBEE-8:33pm yesterday, just catching up as per, some times yi canny help your self,I get dragged in to easy, so who’s tipped his toe in this time:-))))

A couple of brammers yesterday were performing in a way that screamed ‘”Troll!” There choice of topic, their language, calling out fellow posters – some of our guys had a go at them, telling them to behave and enjoy the day that was in it, then they disappeared.

No names in case they’re looking for the cred – haven’t seen them on today.

Tossers of course…………….. but, their obvious pain (as Dessybhoy outlines above) somehow makes it all the more worthwhile.

The OBaF Act is politically driven with the support of a compliant police force.

Celtic have addressed the issue but ultimately and eventually it’ll be football fans of all clubs who’ll force a change in SNP policy.

  20. PB

The ultimate prize is to expose their cheating, as well as exposing the corrupt sfa, title stripping would imo be a by product, but many supporters would see that as the big prize.

We may well get a ways there if the BTC goes against them next month, something will have to give, they won’t be able to sweep it under the carpet, they will try, but they will fail imo.

I can also see a hun mark 3 in the near future, that sort of bothers me as the only one who has the where with all is Mash, he will get them for nada and he holds all the aces as he owns the IP.

So again how do we get it out there ?

    HH

  21. HT

I know and understand that, as you say the supporters will ultimatly decide, but forcing their suits to hurry things along would be the first step to take imo.

  22. TET,

canny see Mash looking to take over the huns,

they have caused him too much grief lately,

on top of that he is a businessman who knows how much of

a basket case that place is,he would need to throws many millions at it before he earned a penny

  23. Prestonpans Bhoy

Perhaps the low percentage of the support who are aware of Res12 is a reflection of those who care about the principles at play?

To care asks questions of self that perhaps some just do not want to ask?

Those that are aware seem to appreciate the principles at play but what comes first?.

    Caring or awaring?
