Celtic’s revenue bounced back from the year without fans in the six months to 31 December 2021. Income was up almost 30% to £52.9m, only £8m below the full year earnings to 30 June 2021. The club reported a £7m trading profit before intangibles in the interims, released this evening. But wait for it……… Add in the profit from player sales of £25.9m and you get a pre-tax profit £27.6m (intangibles, like amortisation are deducted before the pre-tax position)!
Player acquisitions during the period totalled £16.8m, which will push our running annual amortisation charge up a tad from it’s trend of £13m.
Cash in the bank on 30 June was £25.6m, which goes some way to explaining the splurge of signings we have enjoyed in the intervening period.
Manage your assets
The first take away for me is the contrast between our £25.8m earned in player sales to the £1.0m earned in the corresponding period a year earlier. We kept Edouard, Ajer and Co. in order to chase another milestone. Player trading is where it’s at. Sure, it is risky, do not expect the kind of value and performance we have seen in the last two windows forever, but we trade or we fail. I remember the good old days on here, when managing your assets was a controversial aim.
Win the league
The second observation is that this was a season with Europa League football. Imagine, for a second, we got to the Champions League next season. The possibilities are really quite interesting!

I had ” Engaged” a solicitor in 2009, in order that HE would Represent ME, at my forthcoming Employment Tribunal in Glasgow in early 2010. After the Tribunal ( which I WON in the first 10 minutes, with NO HELP from HIM), MY so called ” Solicitor then LIED to me IN WRITING, and he deliberately FAILED to disclose vital information to me BEFORE The Tribunal. I was AWARDED Compensation from my Former Employer ( A local Council). I SHOULD have got my JOB BACK, but I didnt due to this Solicitors LIES and Behaviour.
The Compensation Cheque was then sent to MY so called Solicitor ( Which is NORMAL Practice), and HIS simple TASK was to then forward MY Cheque/MONIS to ME ?
He FAILED to do, and deliberately WITH HELD MY Monies/Cheque for weeks !
He KNEW that i was STILL UNEMPLOYED Despite winning my employment tribunal, and that I had NO SAVINGS, and that I was only receiving just over £50 per week in JOB Seekers Allowance, so he was FULLY AWARE that my Wife and I were struggling to pay our mortgage and with other Household Bills.
After I had ” CHASED HIM UP”…He Finally sent me a Cheque from HIS own Bank Account ( NOT The Cheque from my previous Employers)….BUT…HIS Cheque to me was for ONLY HALF MY Compensation.
He had deliberately STOLEN half MY Money and had also LIED to me about the reasons for doing so.
I then made official Complaints of HIM to The SLCC ( the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission) in writing of course, with several examples of HIS LIES via emails etc to be used as EVIDENCE in my Complaints. During The SLCC Investigation of him, he ADDED FURTHER LIES to that Legal Organisation, who in turn FOUND HIM GUILTY after over TWO Years.
( NOTE…The SLCC is the ONLY go to ORAGANISATION should anyone wish to make complaints against a Solicitor in Scotland, as The LAW Society of Scotland will NOT consider ANY Complaints of their members ( Solicitors, Advocates etc) UNTIL The SLCC has firstly completed their Investigation.
The SLCC and Legal aid Board not only found in my favour and instructed the Solicitor to REFUND MY Money that he had STOLEN, but they also ordered HIM to pay me ” Compensation/Damages” for HIS Poor Representation and Advice to me, including for the BLATANT LIES that HE had written to ME….and also to The SLCC itself, when he was trying to ESCAPE being brought to book.
The SLCC also identified ” CONDUCT Issues” and passed the FILE of this Solicitor over to The Law Society of Scotland for THEIR INVESTIGATION.
To cut a long story shorter…I ALSO discovered that this VERY SAME Solicitor had attempted to STEAL £91,000 from a OAP Couple who lived in Maryhill, Glasgow…their name was/is Mr.Mrs BLUE !
On being caught for this attempted THEFT of the old couples money…the Solicitor ADMITTED it ALL to The Law Society when faced with questions and their Investigation.
The Law Society decided to ” FINE” this Solicitor ONLY £1,000 and he also was given a ” Written Warning”. Mr Mrs Blue managed to get THEIR £91,000 BACK…but ONLY after a Year or so !
this story of the Solicitor and Mr.Mrs Blue was all over the Front Pages of The Sunday Mail Newspaper and the family of Mr.Mrs Blue went to the Papers because THEY were DISGUSTED that the Solicitor had ” Gopt Off” so lightly by The Law Society.
My ” CASE” was similiar although NOT for as much as £91,000 ?
I also tried to bring Charges against the Solicitor by way of The Police…but they wanted NOTHING to do with it, and “, Advised” me to leave it ALL to the Law Society !
I believe that Mr and Mrs Blue had received the VERY SAME advice from the Police ?
This Serial LIAR AND THIEF.. Faced NO criminal Charges, and was FREE to continue as a Solicitor in Scotland…which he did !

So in that respect Ernie is correct in saying Goodwillie has not been proved guilty of a crime and does not have a rape conviction against his name.

With respect TOM MOST Rape victims will NOT have any ” Witness”, to corroborate THEIR Evidence of such an HORRIFIC Crime.
In MY case and that of Mr and Mrs Blue there WAS ” Well Documented Written Evidence” available for the Police to become involved. Mr and Mrs Blue COULD have pointed the POLICE to the Solicitors ” PREVIOUS” Wrongdoings in relation to my complaints of HIM reviously, and also with the INVESTIGATION REPORT by The SLCC and Legal Aid Board.
Mr and Mrs Blue COULD have corroborated each others EVIDENCE, and NOT forgetting that the Solicitor HIMSELF…ADMITTED all his wrongdoings to the Law Society..albeit eventually.
In MY eyes and the eyes of Mr and Mrs Blue and their family…this Solicitor WAS ” Caught Bang to rights” and the Police SHOULD have brought Criminal charges against him, and we will never change our views that he WAS/IS a Criminal.

I wasn’t expressing an opinion. The fact is the PF decided not to prosecute the case due to “a lack of corroborative evidence”.
If a QC thought there was enough evidence then fine. I’m not arguing with that. All I did was explain to another poster that it didn’t go to trial and the reasons given at the time. I made no comment about the rights or wrongs of that decision.
