CELTIC have stepped up their search for a striker with a move for Lorient striker Mohamed Bamba.
The Ivory Coast frontman has emerged as a priority target for Martin O’Neill who is lining up a loan-to-buy deal for the 24-year-old international who is valued in the £5million region.
Bamba has been struggling for form this season with just one goal in 16 Ligue 1 outings, but the interim Hoops gaffer is aware of the potential of the marksman, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
The 18 times-capped attacker first hit the headlines with 20 goals for Hapeol Rishon Lezion in Israel’s second tier in 2022-23.

SMILES BETTER…Mohamed Bamba celebrates a goal for Lorient.
That earned him a move to Wolfsberger in Austria where he claimed six goals in 15 appearances before his four-and-a-half year deal to the French club in January 2024.
The Hoops are in urgent need of firepower as was demonstrated again on Sunday night when the champions struggled to finish off part-time sixth-tier outfit Auchinleck Talbot in the Scottish Cup encounter at Rugby Park where they settled for a 2-0 win courtesy of strikes from Johnny Kenny and Sebastian Tounekti.
