A comfortable win in the end masked a difficult hour for Celtic at Inverness on Saturday. It was not until Ki Sung-Yeung replaced Georgios Samaras that Celtic were able to prize open the home team. Ki has the range of passing and shot that makes him a formidable attacking threat but he has still to require the consistency of concentration that would make him a certain starter.
After Paddy McCourt appeared on 69 minutes Celtic were well on top. The Irishman brings the double gifts of time and space to the team. He has the ability to take and retain possession despite the close attention of several defenders, allowing others to take up advance positions or relieve pressure on defence.
We’ve tried more midfield formations this season that I can keep track of and despite Ki and McCourt improving Celtic considerably on Saturday I’m not going to insist either is given a starting berth. Both still have more to give, as do the rest of the midfield.

‘Strathclyde Police deploy state of the art Fenian-catching technology’
It seems that special branch are also detaining people at airports and questioning them about the GB.
Tell me your joking, special branch ffs. Are the GB terrorists as well now, a threat to national security?
Is Broxburn not a part of Glasgow seeing as 99.9999999% of all sectarian offences happen there?
Hearts, the all inclusive family club… ;)

I blame Stokes too. He was playing away – and scoring – all the while leaving his pregnant partner alone at home.
He’s a love rat!!
That’s what I tnink.

I agree we need more from our midfield. In my opinion the sooner we get kris commons fully fit and playing regularly the better, he is easily our most productive player when on form. I also think Joe Ledley is wasted on the left side of midfield. Do you agree?
Paul67
Yep -we need to find someone who can put foot on the ball and pick a pass..consistently. I feel we have that player in the ‘shape’ of Kris Commons..ahem. We need him back playing asap.
We also have Jamesy. In time he will be comfortable sitting in a more central role working triangles, with give and go options now that our two main strikers have began to suss out that mobile strikers are harder to mark (both senses) The two goals we scored on Saturday were ‘Celtic Class’ and I was delighted that Jamesy & Ghoops were involved.
If Kris is not welcome (and I support Lenny if he has decided he is disruptive as manager must have the final say) ..then we have a ready made answer in Jamesy
So the solution is probably with us right now. Tho’ the other Celts must, must , must get in the faces of the players that try to intimidate him and the refs who don’t protect him. Can you imagine Chris Sutton, Thommo and Lenny allowing opponents to flatten their teamates with impunity?

Agree that the ball to Sammi should be used as part of a wider strategy ..not the only tactic. The imminent return of our very own ‘Hon Man’ at left back will mean more delivery into the box ..we must secure a guy that can actually heedie the ball in the net.
Overall, I feel the mid is covered and we are probably ok at the back now (always take a star centre half, don’t get me wrong) and big Fraser is coming onto a game and looking far more assured.
Our number one priority is getting that ariel threat at the front of the attack…not as our only tactic ..but available when the preferred options are not producing the scoring chances in games. The amount of cross balls we deliver that go wayward is an ongoing concern.
The thing that grates with me ..is the length of time it has taken to get it done!
A pivotal week lies before us. C’mon the Celts!

I thought the booing was from the Caley fans,at Sammi for his part in the sending off..

‘Tell me your joking, special branch ffs. Are the GB terrorists as well now, a threat to national security?’
It was mentioned on KDS.
Plod’s ‘reasoning’ will be that the threat from dissident republicans means they have to carry out intelligence gathering to establish just who might be on the periphery. People who know people who know people who know people. Just in case. It’s how they work.
Not the best performance on Saturday but 3 points that we badly needed. The pitch at ICT does not support our passing game as they deliberatly keep the grass long, surely there should be a rule about this ;-)
I’m not too concerned about the punting it up to Sammi tactic that we use at tricky away grounds, would not like to see it at home though! I still think we need to sort out the midfield as we are still much in need of a Moravcik / Nakamura player to create for the front 2. I’m not holding my breath though as getting a player of such quality would mean spending some money on a transfer fee (obviously Moravcik was a bagain) as opposed to the bargain basement bosmans we’re constantly linked with. On another plus note I was glad to see Hooper and Stokes linking up again and I hope this continues. Bring on the pars!
Has anyone been charged from the last incident involving Stokes parents, if not why not ?
Plans to hold an Old Firm derby outside of Scotland are back on the table, with Rangers keen to revisit the idea of arranging a game in the USA.
Discussions were held last year with a view to a pre-season game taking place in Boston, only for the Ibrox club to turn down the opportunity.
Now under new ownership, recently installed chief operating officer Ali Russell says he is interested in the idea of a succession of non-competitive matches being held to take the fixture around the world.
“I would like to see us take the Old Firm fixture abroad but we have to be careful because we don’t want Rangers to become the lesser brand,” Russell told the Mail on Sunday.
“We have a strong tradition at Rangers and we have to make sure we play on an equal footing. Boston was the right idea but maybe the wrong city.
“It might be that we take it to somewhere neutral or it might be that it’s more than one game which gives you an opportunity to create a home and away scenario.”
When pressed on a venue for rangers ‘home game’, Mr Russell stated he hoped the public pitches in Larkhall would be available…

Broxburn Plod doesn’t have the necessary resources due to Risibly Hypocritical Jingoistic Hun FC not paying its taxes. ?
Can anyone confirm that Angela Constance MSP, The Scottish Parliament, Minister for Children is the MSP for Broxburn?
If so wonder what are her feelings that a family in her constituency no longer feel it is safe to bring up a family there due to sectarian attacks.
Mmmmmmmmm????
I’m sure the penalty incident has been done to death but am I the only one who thinks that it really was borderline red? I think if you take your aim from the man and not the ball and jump with a straight arm in his face you are in danger of causing a bit of damage. I actually think Sammy took a sore one.
It’s a man’s game of course, but there was no real intention of winning the ball and the boy was frustrated having seen Sammy win everything thus far in the game. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that no malice was intended but if it was so certain that it was only deserving of a yellow (or ‘a scandalous decision’ as referred to by Chick Young) then maybe say 4 or 5 players can line up and take a booking for the team and ensure one of the opposition gets 5 good slaps?
The balance between that particular incident and the slaughtering of the referee is quite astonishing. Ah, it was against Celtic.
Next point while I’m on is the commentary on the BBC highlights, provided by Rob McLean. Rob was actually commentating on the game live for Radio Scotland and it was not until well after the incident had been played, replayed and the cabal of hyenas decided to go for the referees blood that the decision was pilloried (and calls for Neil Lennon to accede at half time to the boy coming back on, I kind you not!!!). But on the highlights the immediate chastisement is leveled, and even a bit of sarcasm in there. So commentary as added to the tape, not as live. Isn’t this a distortion of the reality? On ESPN both WGS and Hateley said on first view they thought ‘straight red’. They later thought it could have been, and probably more appropriately, yellow. So was the BBC commentary on the highlights impartial?
Lastly, I promise, first call for Mobanguravember. Can any of the guys who are taking part please post up their availability to meet pre match on Wednesday, pick fleas from each others faces and get some dried froth (coffee, beer or guinness) on the the top lip?
BB’s or (preferably) O’Neill’s?
Cheers
WITH just over five weeks until the transfer window re-opens, Celtic are stepping up their search for the recruits believes his side needs to bring the title back to Parkhead.
The latest name linked is Spanish rising star, Jose Antonio Ruiz – nicknamed Pirulo – a 19-year-old midfielder currently catching the eye with Espanyol’s youth team.
His agent, Luis Pacha, has already been in talks with Celtic about the prospect of the former Cadiz player making the move.
Reported in Spain over weekend this was a done deal, he had informed his club he was leaving.

I meant red card of course, not penalty. Although I’d have given one. :)
Repost from the caboose of the last thread.
Awe Naw,
With the game generally hanging on a shoogly nail, I’m not sure if anyone could plan a precise escape route.
Perhaps the best we can hope for s to be in a position to take advantage of whatever opportunities arise.
The report of the hun’s own Comical Ali resurrecting the mouth salivating prospect of a US game against us, is laughable in their desperation to hang on to our coat tails.

That is indeed true, I was being slightly mischievous with that comment. I was just wondering what their criteria was? obviously not a city with a large Irish-American population, so that rules out New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco…

SoT,
if I’m (me a Celtic supporter unlike you) responsible for the IRA campaign to protect against british oppression, because of the team I support, then they are responsible for the undermining of the army, simples, and if you want to absolve your hun friends then go ahead, protect their sensibilities as long as you want, just dont make any stupid excuses about it being unfaur to huns ffs.

What about “Orange County”
Another day, and the orchestrated campaign against the Green Brigade continues with the publication of todays papers (with the exception of Spiers).
More worrying is the fact that Special Branch are stopping Celtic fans on their way to Ireland and questioning who they know in the GB or any other info they can get.
1 well known poster from Celtic Minded was questioned for over an hour about the group – despite the fact that he is not a memeber or ever has been.
Special Branch were able to tell him where he sits at CP (not 111 incidentally), and also show his photos of himself at the recent FAC demo .
Its also came to our attention that 1 lad who sits in 111 (not GB member), was bizzarly stopped and searched under the PTA in the middle of Glasgow city centre, as he made his way home from work. The guy was made to take off his shoes etc incase he was hiding anything ???
1 of the cops who searched him, had been intently watching Celtic fans at Killie the week before.
The attempted crminalisation continues.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring or indeed Wednesday at the game.
