Celtic still looking for midfield magic

771

A comfortable win in the end masked a difficult hour for Celtic at Inverness on Saturday.  It was not until Ki Sung-Yeung replaced Georgios Samaras that Celtic were able to prize open the home team.  Ki has the range of passing and shot that makes him a formidable attacking threat but he has still to require the consistency of concentration that would make him a certain starter.

After Paddy McCourt appeared on 69 minutes Celtic were well on top.  The Irishman brings the double gifts of time and space to the team.  He has the ability to take and retain possession despite the close attention of several defenders, allowing others to take up advance positions or relieve pressure on defence.

We’ve tried more midfield formations this season that I can keep track of and despite Ki and McCourt improving Celtic considerably on Saturday I’m not going to insist either is given a starting berth.  Both still have more to give, as do the rest of the midfield.

Are you referring to David Leggat who used to “write” for The People.? If so he is a p!sh stained jakie and an uber bigot of the deepest dye. I cant imagine any paper would ever employ him again but standards are so low in the street of shame its possible as long as he didnt come into the office as he stinks to high heaven and slabbers continuously.

IMO .the focus for Lenny and the bhoys now it to get the points down to 4 by the weekend ,let’s see how they handle pressure .We had 13 drummed into us for weeks ,it would be interesting to see how TFPLG and his team coped if we could pull it back to 4 for a few weeks .

Thing is though ,we did look flat again and it really took us too long to get going ,one thing for sure though if Lenny can get young JF to run at his opponents all the time thing really will start happening .

The bhoy takes defenders out of their comfort zone and things start to happen .If they are doubling up on him Lenny has to put someone in for a give and go he can,t keep leaving him to pass the ball back to FBs/CBs that just does not hurt teams enough .

Well done the bhoys another 3 points .

I am sure they could argue that there are contingency plans if that was the case.

There could be a break clause in the contract should the huns get kicked out of the league.

That of course puts pressure on the other teams in the league to allow the huns to stay in the SPL, but that was always going to be the case.

Can I be the first to say congratulations to the ref on sat for getting the sending off 100% spot on.

I have watched this incident repeatedly.

The caley player looks at Sami ( everyone knows this, nothing new there), however…..

The defence from fat Terry is that they went up together and used thier arms. Momentum caused thier seems to swing. RUBBISH

The players arm swings towards Sami, he doesn’t get the ball and then proceed to completely change the direction of his arm (against any momentum) and smashes the back of Sami’s head with an elbow

    “My Dear fellow,

The Vernerable Bishop and I have used the same bald statistics and arrived at equally unsubstantiated conclusions.

You might quite like the Bish, or his conclusion, but it’s just poor logic, like all the others published on the topic.”

As I’ve tried to point out a few times, the bishop’s statement was based on the bald statistics. Statistics on the religion of victims of crimes whether you like how they were gathered, treated or whether the standard deviation for the sample is good enough. Note that these are the only statistics available to draw any conclusions from.

Your statement about the religion of the perpetrator of the crimes was not based on any statistics but was based on your own prejudices.

Regardless of whether I like the “Bish” or his conclusions the fact is that the only statistics available on the matter “indicate” that catholics are more likely to suffer sectarian abuse.

  15. The Battered Bunnet at 16:48

I agree with you that it can be quite easy to manipulate the statistics to tell a certain story, as the press have done to try to show that more offences take place at football matches than at parades.

Due to the very nature of the statistics that were published, it is pretty near impossible to do a definitive analysis on them. I have no doubt the actual raw data they used would provide a much more meaningful analysis but it might be that what is there isn’t what they wanted the report to say.

A couple of things would make the statistics much more informative:

    1.) If we could have a breakdown of the number of supporters from each club arrested and where they were arrested at;

2.) A breakdown of the numbers arrested (and for what specifically) at each parade and numbers attending the parades.

With these two pieces of information, we could ascertain whether or not you are more likely to be arrested at a football match or a parade and which club’s supporters are more likely to be arrested.

  28. here’s a message to that beanbag Mr Traynor

How dare you. Throughout your whole journalistic career, the songs of bigotry have reverberated around Ibrox park. How many times did you take the time and opportunity to single out such offensive sectarian behaviour? Perhaps to do so would have interrupted your voracious appetite for…food. Perhaps you didn’t care. Perhaps you considered it to be part and parcel of the ‘Old Firm’. Tradition perhaps? Who knows? Perhaps you know Mr Traynor. Perhaps, privately, you have lobbied those atop the marble staircase. I don’t know. What I do know is now there is a bandwagon a-rolling, you are riding on it shouting ‘yeehah’ like the redneck journo that you are.

You may not like their politics but the GB views are founded on principle. And I for one am pleased that this principle is not based on creed or colour. You may find that difficult to comprehend – your playground diatribe today suggests as much. Or perhaps you are so frustrated at the mess the team with the only open sectarian policy in history are in. Or perhaps you are simpy a beanbag…

    SoT,

“I repeat that your sniff out a Hun question is stupid —- it is stupid because it is based on a fallacy . It contains a specious argument. Hun FC are not directly responsible for the funding of the British Military . Her Majesty’s Government chooses what to spend on whom . The Huns could have paid all of their taxes and the Government could still have decided to cut the funding to the British military by X million pounds.”

point being, we do know that paying taxes is paying towards the MOD regardless of any cuts or what cuts, if you dont pay the taxes then cuts are inevitible, no ?

If cuts are inevitible then its no great leap of imagination to say non-payment led to cuts, surely ?

A very simple premis, where no true tim can object to the implication/argument.

I would only expect huns to make the arguments you make to justify their and the meeja’s assertion that all tims are pro IRA and anti british, when in fact their withdrawal of fiscal support to the british government has caused choices detrimental to the armed forces, any such decisions are potentially life threatening to soldiers.

We’re told to leave the politics out of it, so the basic argument is dont pay your taxes kill a soldier, nothing political simple economics.

Helping them justify their position and relieving them from their responsibilities only helps their propaganda.

We(Celtic) can’t be very good when we worry about ICT,Dunfermline,St Mirren Motherwell, these games were banker wins for us through the years,I doubt very much that these teams have improved enough that they should worry a team such as Celtic, but it seems that we worry about them every week.

The game on Wednesday should be a three pointer every day of the week, and likewise with the rest of the games,If we have to worry about a game then Rangers could be the difficult game for us,I watched last nights highlights and they (Rangers),were abysmal as a team,BBC had to look very hard to show them as a good team, and they weren’t that successful in trying to do so.

I wish people wouldn’t downgrade our Eurpean games as a sort of noose around our neck, they are anything but,I class them as inportant as a League game and more than important if we get too the next stages.Countries in Europe exspect to see Celtic in the cups, but we seem to think we’re above playing in the second division in Europe,We need to get that idea knocked on the head tout de suite.

I see Mr O’Reilly the MIB for our game at Inverness, was getting pelters for his handling of the game in the BBC studio, usually they say the Referee, but no,it was Mr O’Reilly last night ,I think O’Reilly was mentioned 4 or 5 times.

Does anyone else get the impression that the presenter of the programme always looks a bit worse for wear(the guys that interesting,I can’t even remember his name). The ref did make a mistake by saying it was his elbow,But Sammi was still fouled by getting a hand in the face.

We are due a long run of wins could this be the start of an unbeaten run to the end of the season.
