ANTHONY STOKES has been suspended for a fortnight by Celtic after his public rant over Ronny Deila’s squad selection before Sunday’s 3-1 win over Inverness Caley Thistle..

The Republic of Ireland international striker took to Twitter to vent his frustration after being left out despite travelling with the rest of the players to the Highland capital.

His social media comments annoyed his manager who said afterwards that Stokes was being disrespectful to his colleagues. The S{FL champions have now taken formal disciplinary action against the player.

“Buzzing to be brought all the way up to Inverness with the team to sit in the stands today,” Stokes wrote on his Twitter account. “Lovely weather for it too.

“Who gives a f* about wages when your [sic]not playing games! It’s all about playing and contributing not picking up a wage.”

Stokes last started a first team game for the Hoops back in August against Dundee United and has been linked with Cardiff City who could make a move during next month’s transfer window, as CQN informed you yesterday.
