CELTIC TAKE ON LINFIELD AS EURO TREK KICKS OFF

0

CELTIC’S Champions League adventure will kick off in Belfast following Linfield’s 1-0 aggregate success over San Marino minnows La Fiorita in the first qualifying round of the competition.

The Irish League outfit, managed by ex-Sevco Rangers striker David Healy, scraped through after hitting a last-minute winner in last week’s encounter at Windsor Park.

It means a homecoming for Brendan Rodgers a week on Friday when he takes his Invincibles to face the Northern Ireland title winners.

The Hoops have stated they won’t be taking up their allocation of away tickets for the away tie leading to various fan groups requesting the club to reverse their decision.

Healy accepts his team are massive underdogs, but they are in for the biggest pay-day in their history with up to £1million coming their way in the form of UEFA prize money, gate receipts, TV cash, merchandising and advertising.
