CELTIC have written to the SPFL hierarchy to claim Dundee United have breached their rules by hoisting ticket prices for the game against the champions at Tannadice a week today.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are, of course, a solitary point away from claiming their fourth successive title as they prepare for the first encounter of the five post-split fixtures.
The Hoops are as good as championship winners with only a seismic turnaround preventing them from adding their 55th crown to the Parkhead trophy room.
However, Tayside will be the centre of attention for Celtic fans aiming to be in attendance when the flag is mathematically signed, sealed and delivered.
But the potential celebrations will come at a cost.
LAST TIME AROUND…Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic players applaud the visiting fans after the 0-0 draw at Tannadice in December.
Dundee United chiefs announced away supporters would have to stump up £42 to witness the action.
That’s a hike of £8 from the previous match at the venue, the stale scoreless stalemate three days before Christmas.
Hoops bosses understand home fans can buy briefs for a fraction of that price.
That would contravene Rule I31 of the SPFL guidelines, which states: “Clubs are prohibited from charging higher admission prices to accommodation designated for supporters of the visiting club than for broadly comparable accommodation designated for use by supporters of the home club at the same match.”
A Celtic statement read: “Following the announcement of ticket arrangements for our forthcoming Scottish Premiership match against Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday, April 26, we can confirm we have raised a number of concerns with the SPFL.”
An early announcement from SPFL bosses could clarify the situation.
