CELTIC TARGET DANISH STRIKER

BRENDAN RODGERS is poised to add more firepower to his Celtic attack with a swoop for Danish wonderkid Mathias Kvistgaarden.

The Under-21 international striker is on the Hoops manager’s wanted list and he hopes to get the deal done before the August 31 midnight deadline, according to a report in The Scottish Sun.

Rodgers acknowledges the urgent need for another attacker and the Brondby frontman, a team-mate of Matt O’Riley at international level, has been recommended.

GOAL-DEN BHOY…Mathias Kvistgarraden celebrates a strike for Brondby.

Twenty-one-year-old Kvistgaarden netted 10 goals in 37 appearances for the Superliga side last season and has claimed one already in the new term.

The forward, who has been capped by his country all the way from the Under-18s, signed a four-year contract extension in March, but his club will not stand in his way if the treble winners are prepared to meet their asking fee of around £2million.

Rodgers will face a major problem if Kyogo Furuhashi sustains an injury early in the campaign with South Korean international Oh Hyeon-gyu already sidelined.

Daizen Maeda could take over as attack-leader in an emergency, but the champions require extra back-up for the challenges at home and abroad.
