CELTIC TARGET IN DEAL SWITCH

CELTIC target Thomas Henry is poised to join Gent in a cut-price £4.5million switch.

The 6ft-plus powerhouse striker was scouted by the Hoops after hitting 41 goals in 71 games for Belgian outfit OH Leuven, as CQN reported last week.

However, the Parkhead side have stalled on their move with uncertainty surrounding Odsonne Edouard who could remain in Glasgow as he runs down his contract which expires in June. His wage demands of around £85,000-per-week appear to be putting off would-be suitors although Brighton are still linked with a £20million swoop.

Ange Postecoglou has introduced impressive £4.6million Japanese hitman Kyogo Furuhashi and he had Leigh Griffiths and £5million Swiss international Albian Ajeti, who made a brief cameo appearance, on the substitutes’ bench in the 3-2 win over Hearts in the League Cup opener at the weekend.

Edouard’s fellow-Frenchman Henry’s switch to Gent appears to be “95 per cent complete”, according to the Daily Record.

The Belgians have cash to splash after picking up £15million from Benfica for Ukrainian marksman Roman Yaremchuk in this transfer window.
